You can just say Zionists.

SkepticElliptic , to U.S. News in Retailer Target says it's closing 9 stores due to theft. The crime data tells a different story.

They placed target stores in areas where people are more price sensitive and therefore less likely to shop at target.

I would start by taking it apart and cleaning it. If there’s too much additional load from hair or whatever getting wrapped up in the roller then that would do it.

SkepticElliptic , to Do It Yourself in How can I keep dust out of an unfinished basement? Or at least off of a specific area and table?

I would wash the floors and walls to get rid of any dust that is present. Then I would make a room out of plastic sheets. Finally, I would put use a 20" box fan with a 20" furnace filter taped to it to clear the air of dust.

SkepticElliptic , to Star Trek in A Gen Xer's Thoughts on Strange New Worlds

I will say that older Startrek episodes did have the soap opera feel. My guess is that they’re trying to avoid looking like a soap opera. To me that means audio as well as visual. They mix soap operas in the lower range at a higher volume for older audiences, cutting out the higher vocal range. It makes it sound like they’re in a closet or something.

SkepticElliptic , to Star Trek in A Gen Xer's Thoughts on Strange New Worlds

I’ve noticed that the movie and t.v. industry will not tolerate a static shot. They must always be moving the camera around for no apparent reason. Sometimes they just use a jumpcut every half second or so.

I’m not sure if they think it holds the audiences attention better, but I find it extremely distracting and annoying. Maybe I’ve gotten used to static shots from watching real people do real things on YouTube or whatever. It’s like trying to watch a scene on a ship in a storm with these scenes sometimes.

SkepticElliptic , to RedditMigration in Finally got access to Tildes today... Seems unimpressive

I got into it with those guys around summer of 2020 over college kids returning to school in person. I live near a large college campus and we had a newborn so I wasn’t keen on a large number of young people coming into town and giving us covid. Deimos, told me to stop talking about it, so I asked “how do I delete my account?” and I never went back to check on what his response was.

Jokes on them because we got covid several times after our child started daycare a year later.

SkepticElliptic , to RedditMigration in The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.

I quit using it, but I was using a third party app that didn’t have ads. However, I still insist that there is a way for someone to buy accounts, votes, and even entire subreddits directly from Reddit. The way reddit and other websites turn a blind eye to how many fake accounts they have just doesn’t make sense to me.

SkepticElliptic OP , to Do It Yourself in Does anybody else have an old house?

This is the only room with the panelling in it’s natural state. The rest of it has been painted over before we bought the house.

There is also faux title paneling with a floral accent in the laundry. Textured paneling in one bathroom. And we had faux marble with gold veins in the master bath before I removed it.

SkepticElliptic , to U.S. News in Why is healthy food so expensive in America? Blame the Farm Bill that Congress always renews to make burgers cheaper than salad

I’m an American. I find a raw slice of American cheese revolting, even on a sandwich. Always have since I was a kid.

SkepticElliptic , to U.S. News in Why is healthy food so expensive in America? Blame the Farm Bill that Congress always renews to make burgers cheaper than salad

I find that American cheese takes away flavor from the burger. It’s very very bland. To me, it’s just not worth the extra calories for the taste.

SkepticElliptic , to U.S. News in Why is healthy food so expensive in America? Blame the Farm Bill that Congress always renews to make burgers cheaper than salad

It is even it’s covered in American cheese which adds no flavor and increases calories by a lot and it’s on a bun made of American wheat, which increases calories by a lot and it’s covered in sugary ketchup and it comes with fried potatoes and a large soda made out of corn syrup.

Turns a normal amount of calories into 2k calories when you add in all the crap.

SkepticElliptic , to U.S. News in Why is healthy food so expensive in America? Blame the Farm Bill that Congress always renews to make burgers cheaper than salad

The big thing of salad mix is always less than $5

Frozen and canned fruits and vegetables are always cheap and plentiful. Fresh is always going to be more expensive because of the way growing seasons work.

In the future we will need more localized greenhouse farming because of water issues in the Southwest where most vegetables are grown (for u.s. consumption)
