I mean functionally we are slaves there’s just no physical punishment for not working. Instead you just lose everything you worked for.
I’m gaming more and working more. I work more because everything is expensive af and just keeps going up. I’m gaming more because my job requires talking to hundreds of people a day so I like to just sit in silence mindlessly playing games
That’s why I said functionally. Like yeah I know I’m nowhere near enduring what actual historic slaves did.
I’m simply breaking it down to “forced to work without consent” and you could argue that I have the ability to not consent and therefore not work.
But wouldn’t ya know it food water and housing all cost money! And wouldn’t ya know it the people that sell these things are the same people that sign my paychecks!
I have to work for the money just so I can give that money right back to my employer. When slavery was first abolished in America slave owners created sharecropping. Where you’re still functionally a slave but technically you’re not you just have to keep working in order to afford enough money to pay for the “housing” they provide. You have to eat but they deduct every bite taken out of your pay.
This is what is happening to a large number of people in modern day America the only difference is you have the illusion of choice between employers. Even though most of those employers will do practice the exact same policies.
This is all coming from someone who’s poor af who lives paycheck to paycheck because prices keep going up while my wage stays the same causing me to not have any real life outside of work because I can’t afford more than 2 days off a week.
I am functionally a slave. I’m a well treated slave but still a slave.
I mean that’s pretty much how all modern cultural views happened. The British came in and changed shit and when they left not everything changed back and a lot of cultural norms remained.
Edit: Idk anything about middle eastern history (thanks American education system!) I just thought it made sense since Britain has impacted cultures all over the world due to its violent colonialism.
Hey that’s fair. I’m not a big fan of religious doctrine personally so I understand. I just thought that it might’ve been a remnant of British culture at the time.
But like I said I’m ignorant af about it all and I’ll accept that
I mean it does because those things only make you uncomfortable because you’ve been conditioned your entire life to feel that way just because you’re a man.
It does when it comes to closeness and intimacy with friends. Look at a lot of European cultures where kissing your friends is extremely common and closeness is normalized.
It’s all the anti gay shit that gets spread in America that makes men uncomfortable to be close and open with their friends
Things are the way they are because people are forced into the culture they were born into and are pressured at every angle to stay that way or face social backlash.
I got called gay cause I got too excited while talking to one of my friends. Because it’s a common culture trait in America that any overly positive emotion towards another guy means your a sissy boy
Trust me it wasn’t just an insult where I grew up it had a seriously negative impact on my ability to socialize or form any kind of romantic relationship
But that’s ignoring the point that anyone normal person would be in jail based purely on attempted intimidation towards the legal system. If he didn’t have people at every level of govt choking on his micro penis he’d have already been tried by now
They should feel persecuted. They’re being persecuted for being dog shit human beings and I feel like we shouldn’t hide that. Shame them into understanding not only are they horrible people but that the rest of us aren’t gonna put up with it
