Gamma can be adjusted with xrandr.

If you want to do a proper color calibration, lookup “color management” for your distro or desktop environment. You can load an ICC color profile, but you will need a colorimeter or spectrometer to create one.

I use the DNS resolver in pfSense which connects directly to the DNS root servers.

Yes, as long as you don’t have a crappy ISP that interferes with your DNS traffic.

Arch is pretty easy to install, it just takes a bit more work than most distros. Try LFS if you want something hard.

Kdenlive is a pretty good video editor. If you want something more advanced, you can use DaVinci Resolve.
