If you ever worked shifts and transitioned to a 9 to 5 job, how difficult was the change?

I’m a nurse working shifts and sometimes 5 days without a pause and I still don’t know if I’m gonna take one of the 2 9 to 5 jobs my hospital system has offered. I’d earn less money, but I’m already 45 years old and I don’t know if I should call it quits and settle for a regular job 5 days a week and free weekends...

Idk I was the happiest man alive when I stopped working in shifts. Granted, in my case the 9-5 salary was better than I had in shifts, but I couldn't handle the irregular sleep pattern at all.

Idk why I'm commenting this since it doesn't seem to have anything to contribute but I guess you do what you like. If you feel you need to take the change for your own health and to be able to enjoy your time outside work, maybe it's worth a cut in salary

Yes, for people who can't charge at home. I'd love to swap to electric, but 1 hour trip to go charge the car at the nearest charging station is not realistic - especially since I'd need to do it twice as often as 10min trip to refuel.

Also there's the EV prices, starting at 2-3 times more than my current whip lol

hemko ,

Uh, maintenance is one thing where ICE wins (until very recently, thanks fucktards in car industry). Cars have been generally very easy to work on, with anyone with a toolbox being able to do most their repairs in a shed

hemko ,

I absolutely agree that we should work on improving EVs, charging network and whatever technologies makes it better and more suitable for more people. But every person in need of a car has unique hard requirements for the car that can't be ignored as "inconvenience" - and many of those people have to drive with fossil fuels still.

Also, battery swap stations being available in X location doesn't matter to people living in Y location, nor should people in Y location buy EV in hopes that it will be better in Z years

hemko ,

I honestly believe the person starting the thread was on the same wavelength, just pointing out the reason so many still choose ice

hemko ,

High voltage is scary as fuck, but also the fact that absolutely everything from doors to gas pedal and chairs are controlled by a computer you need specialized proprietary equipment to investigate.

This is an issue with new ice cars too to be honest

Honestly, don’t buy Windows license. If you insist using that piece of malware, at least allow yourself a little bit of decency and just “pirate” it

hemko ,

I bet my left testicle this is a Windows problem, not Lenovo

To be fair there’s a lot of people working on any software project that are not directly involved, but whose work is essential for the project to succeed. For all we know, this insensitive brick could be anyone from a janitor to a project manager or an automation engineer working with their internal infrastructure.

There’s a ton of people in the software business who have never written a line of code, that are essential. It’s not any kind of measure on how leech you are, but your message shows well how high you’re sitting on your coding throne with inbuilt toilet

hemko ,

Yeah I agree the person in op is a brick, just got a feeling from your message that you wouldn’t have respect for non-coders working on a project

Yep, Obama already faked his papers. Everyone knows he was born in Norway

Looking for Movies that Showcase Positive Masculinity

Hey there, fellow movie enthusiasts! I’m on the hunt for films that portray positive masculinity. We often see movies with traditional, stereotypical portrayals of masculinity, but I believe there’s a world of cinema out there that can challenge these norms and offer a fresh perspective....

Lord of the Rings trilogy.
There’s so much to it, the relationship between Frodo and Sam, Gimli and Legolas, the kindness and openness of Aragorn, the everlasting joyfulness of Merry and Pippin, Boromir who stood by his brother and Faramir who saw the good in people.

There’s so much to love in lotr

hemko ,

Agreed on the women’s part, not well executed. I stand behind the hype though, both the movies and books are my all time favorites but I grew up with them :)

I was just hyperfocusing through it, every time. On my teenage years to young adult I used to read it almost every year within like 3 days

Proud Boys leader, Capitol window smasher set to be sentenced ( www.washingtonpost.com )

Two of the most visible members of the Proud Boys, one who helped lead the far-right group’s march on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and one who enabled the first breach of the building by smashing a window with a stolen police shield, are set to be sentenced Friday morning by the federal judge who presided over the nearly...

Wait you’re saying proud boys is not a gay boy band?
