I saw this and thought, well yeah that VP is right, cold calls are annoying spam. However, based on the insane comments by all the salespeople, you'd be wrong. Like, are salespeople that out of touch with normal people?
It’s hard to get there on the phone now, though, if you don’t already have a name and phone number. You can probably get a name off LinkedIn, but a main phone number for a company probably won’t get you anywhere now since a lot of companies don’t have receptionists anymore. You’re lucky if the phone tree has a dial by name option. I’m glad I’m not in that kind of business anymore.
I’m not optimistic about this. The finance “geniuses” have seen how much money software and electronics companies are making from subscription models and trying to put them into even combustion powered cars. I think it’s BMW that’s already started trying to put heated seats on a subscription model. The equipment’s already in the car but it’s disabled unless you pay them a monthly fee.
Right now I think the videos have all been from past What If…? entries. He’s already done the research, so to me it makes sense to use it again. Maybe some people prefer videos/audio to reading. Similarly, if he ever does new ones for a video, I assume he would also turn those in to written entries as well for the website. For him most of the work would be the research, so he might as well get as much use out of it as he can. I can understand doing exclusive ones for the books, though. He’s getting paid for those, so it’s worth extra effort.
I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. One of each is smart, and one of each is a total doofus moron. These are the two morons posing together. I love them despite how dumb they are :)
I haven’t used one, but my impression from being around people with Sony alphas is they’re generally solid cameras with perhaps a few quirks. It seems like Sony has tried to make their ecosystem worth investing in.
Just finished watching the first season last night. It wasn’t as good as the original but that’s also a high bar to clear. It had its moments, and I’d say it’s above average compared to your average new sitcom in a first season. There were a lot of points where I thought they were going for some dumb classic sitcom trope/cliche but they’d surprise me and go a little deeper. I’d like to see them get a second season to see if they can really find their footing and go somewhere with this. They would really need to step it up in season 2 to justify additional seasons, though.
