Interesting, can you recommend some reads about it?

linucs OP ,

Cool! Do you know any sources where I can read more about it?

linucs OP ,

Super cool, thanks!

Regarding sleep quality, why did humans evolve to require full darkness?

I know evolution is governed by chance and it is random but does it make sense to "ruin" sleep if there's light? I mean normally, outside, you never have pure darkness, there are the moon and stars even at night. In certain zones of the Earth we also have long periods of no sunshine and long periods of only sunshine....

linucs OP ,

I'm not talking about myself, melatonine, is synthesized by the body when it's dark, light can reduce or stop the synthesis.

linucs OP ,

I'm here to learn, I admit I'm ignorant and that's why I love asking questions here. Maybe it's me but your comment came across a bit rude.

Anyway thanks for engaging here and providing answers and sources.

linucs OP ,

Really cool, thank you!

linucs ,

I do but using firejail on my system the feedback doesn't work :(

linucs OP ,

Thanks, have a good day

linucs OP ,

Source? :)

linucs OP ,

Why important? Where should it be facing in relation to window and door?

Why did groups of human beings migrate to northern zones of the world, and how did they survive?

After reading the abstract of the paper mentioned here I started wondering, why did human groups migrate away from southerner (warmer) places towards the north which is far colder and has less possibilities to grow crops and wild animals to hunt?...

AUA: We are the Plasma dev team. Ask Us Anything about Plasma 6, gear 24.02, Frameworks 6 and everything else in the upcoming Megarelease.

David, Nate, Josh, Marco, Carl, and Niccolò are here ready to answer all your questions on Plasma (all versions), Gear, Frameworks, Wayland (and how it affects KDE’s software), and everything in between....

linucs ,

Thanks for the AUA! Really excited about the Mega Release and even more for the future after!

My question is regarding Nate’s original proposal for the KDE goals “Professionalise KDE” if I remember well. Now, I know that the goal was changed and the scope reduced to “Automatization and Systematization” but I truly believe the original proposal’s spirit could have a huge impact on the whole ecosystem.

For example I remember the proposal contained the plan to hire a person working “full time” on actively finding fundings and grants and applying to them. We got the Mega Release fundraiser but for example on the forum I found discuss.kde.org/t/…/9916 and it looks like a waste of potential to not apply for grants because no one has the time to do so.

Is there anyone at KDE, maybe among the Board, who is still trying to make the “Professionalise KDE” happen?

P.S. I know you guys just want to reach the biggest amount of people but maybe we could start having the AUAs/AMAs and similar, only on Lemmy and a post on Reddit saying that the event will be hosted on Lemmy. This would make the Lemmy community the official one and could convince people to make the switch for the “exclusive content”. It’s not a critic, just want to see Lemmy prosper.

Thanks for the thorough answer Nate, can’t wait for KDE world domination!

I think they should’ve done a community contest like for the wallpaper. But even more I think Plasma (or more in general KDE) should work on brand identity first and then, given the direction, decide a clear, original and distinct logo / wallpaper / whatever style.

Why do trees stems grow new "parts" inside and not outside i.e. why is the oldest part of the stem the innermost "ring" and not the outermost?

Wouldn’t grow something from the inside require a very strong force to “move” the already present one? Instead growing from the last “layer” towards the outside would require a lot less force, but perhaps a lot more matter....

    linucs OP ,

Yes they are, I messed up and I was not even high

    linucs OP ,

Yeah my question was wrongly put but I thought trees did what you described skin does: I thought new tree cells were created in the middle and the outermost layers were the oldest ones.

Is there a difference between "Presentation Mode" and "Manually block sleep and screen locking" in Plasma DE?

I have been curious for some time now if there is any difference between them besides one being located in “Display Configuration” and the other in “Power Management”. They seem a bit redundant to me so as if the folks from the Plasma team weren’t sure where to put and how to name it, lol. >.

    linucs ,

I think presentation mode inhibits notifications so that if you’re presenting something, your presentation won’t be interrupted. Can’t remember where I read it though

    linucs OP ,

    Cool, thanks!

Follow up question: are there different densities in space?

    linucs OP ,

I genuinely laughed at the last sentence hahaha you silly silly person, of course it’s flat

    linucs OP ,

Hahaha those kids are idiots, dinosaurs for life!
