Bernie Sanders Champions 32-Hour Work Week With No Loss in Pay ( www.commondreams.org )

As part of his Labor Day message to workers in the United States, Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday re-upped his call for the establishment of a 20% cut to the workweek with no loss in pay—an idea he said is “not radical” given the enormous productivity gains over recent decades that have resulted in massive profits for...

There have been studies showing no loss in productivity too. But rich people want to fuck us over for no reason 🤷‍♀️

I have received $0 from my parents. My grandma helped me buy some furniture when I moved out to my first apartment, and bless her for that. But I cannot comprehend asking for that much money from my parents, not that they would have it to give me anyway. I feel bad when they want to pay for my dinner, let alone $30k+.

Despite that, I have managed to save more than enough saved for a down payment. But with the market the way it is I have no interest in dropping that much money for a house, especially when our landlord hasn't raised the rent for years and we have a good deal. $30k from your parents is a drop in the bucket when you're looking at a huge ass mortgage payment every month. A house would have to be magical as fuck for the amount they are gonna charge per month with the current prices and rates.

The correct way to use cash advance is to never use it. Seriously they have a totally different (way higher!) APR that accrues from the first day. Read the conditions of your card and calculate how much you'll be paying if you take out $100 for example

Much better to get a personal loan if you are in that situation. The interest will suck but way less than cash advance

pizza-bagel ,

Oh, I was thinking about the situation where you need cash quickly because you don't have enough money to cover something. If you can pay it off immediately then that changes the entire conversation.

pizza-bagel ,

Uhhhh this is exactly how you are supposed to work? I learned that early on. Your boss isn't sitting there watching your every move. You could save the company a trillion dollars and no one would give a fuck if you never tell anyone.

No one is getting a raise or promoted cause they worked 60 hours a week. Working on high visibility projects that are easy is the secret. And if you can't get added to a high visibility project, make your projects high visibility.

Fix the work culture if you don't like it Price. Otherwise go fuck yourself.

Damned if you do damned if you don't

pizza-bagel ,

Thank you! I thought park of work reform was making the current system work for you to get the most for the least amount of work. Now suddenly that's not ok and it makes you "mediocre"?

I can be a bomb ass employee, if you give me bomb ass pay and benefits. Yes I am going to dance around you highlighting all my accomplishments cause I'm not about to do extra shit for free just cause you didn't notice.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. Silently raging instead of participating isn't hurting the company, they get to pay you less.

And the bus company that agreed to this shit

In Tuesday's special election, Ohioans overwhelmingly vote against requiring a supermajority to change their state constitution ( www.cbsnews.com )

Voters in Ohio went to the polls to decide whether to approve a measure known as Issue 1 that would raise the bar for constitutional amendments on the ballot. In the ultimate irony, the votes against changing the amendment process exceeded the 60% supermajority that the measure was seeking in the first place

Yeah exactly what I predicted has happened. People who were "pro-life" and protesting were still able to get abortions when they needed it. And they were taking advantage of that. But now their shitty decisions are actually affecting them, and not just every other woman who is a "murderer" but their abortion is different, and so they are not very happy that they got what they wanted.

People OVERWHELMINGLY want abortion to remain legal. Every time it's on the ballot people vote to keep it legal. That's why Republicans are trying so hard to keep it off the ballot or require a super majority of the vote. They know it's unpopular.

This is part of the reason I'm so hesitant about switching jobs right now. If you don't get laid off you'll probably get forced back into the office to get people to quit without layoffs.

The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won. ( gizmodo.com )

The last major holdouts in the protest against Reddit’s API pricing relented, abandoning the so-called “John Oliver rules” which only allowed posts featuring the TV host. The article describes it as "the official end of the battle," which seems an overstatement to me, but it's the certainly the end of the initial phase....

pizza-bagel ,

Is it over? I mean, reddit definitely got what they wanted. Bootlicking power mods got control of more subreddits, bots are running rampant and pumping up the numbers, and the API change went through with a couple people willing to pay the exorbitant cost.

But the quality of content has dropped dramatically and I've seen a lot of people take notice. It's constant reposts, one popular post will hit like 5-10 subs at the same time. And it's mostly rate me shit and fake aita type posts. Reddit being boring will kill permanently, no protest needed.
