That's sounding like a feasible option. I've thrown myself back into Lemmy itself because I can't take the constant breaking of Kbin and seeing so much potential just trashed about in instances like this.

@snownyte@kbin.social avatar

They might not, they may, we'll see. I did look at the article again to note that there actually had been a couple of successful victories already with other universities where they would not renew contracts with starbucks. While it is likely that Riverside might join those victories, I'm a half-glass empty kind of person saying that there's a chance it might not.

This is why I work nights. For the reason that I want my days available for anything.

@snownyte@kbin.social avatar

In a show of solidarity, the students plan to deliver petitions with more than 1,500 signatures to the two universities this week.

Petitions. Don't. Work. Especially with 1,500 signatures, because Starbucks will just scoff at that and carry on. Really dumb move, guys. If this somehow works then fine but historically speaking, has petitioning ever worked?

“As a company, we respect our partners’ right to organize, freely associate, engage in lawful union activities and bargain collectively without fear of reprisal or retaliation — and remain committed to our stated aim of reaching ratified contracts for union-represented stores in 2024,” he said.

Except the part that you guys elect to omit, is that you've purposefully allowed stores to unionize and then you've went to shut them down. You're full of shit, sir.

The raise management was referring to is an automatic pay hike workers already get each year, Gillespie said.

That's corporate tactics for you.

@snownyte@kbin.social avatar

Okay, I wish some people would stop going with the hyperbole that the moment people did something like this, it'd equal instant chaos. Not to say it wouldn't happen, but the fact that people always project it as immediately happening, is getting old.

That turned me off from the video. It's about as bad as a video I once watched, that toyed with the matter of what would life be without the government. And in that video, it went totally batshit with how there would be no water, schools would be poorly maintained and everywhere else would be post-apocalyptic. Like, what the fuck kind of scenario does that have to do without a government? There's more variables at play with that kind of scenario than being without a government. I digress.

But for the subject at hand, I've thought often about this sort of thing. I think if we stopped working, things would just be majorly inconvenient. I can realistically see stores being shoplifted because after a while, people see no point in waiting and getting off because there would be no one monitoring the cameras because everyone staffed at the store wouldn't be there anymore.

I just find it hard to imagine officers, nurses, doctors .etc just giving up working because those are civic essentials we can't really go without. A doctor midway during surgery just throwing their arms up and saying "fuck it"? No, I find it a little unrealistic. They'd be a murderer by negligence and I think that's something they can't live with.

I can mostly see lots of retail workers, lots of fast food workers, lots of office workers, lots of construction workers .etc abandoning their jobs more that'll affect those industries and making an impact. It'll just make things incredibly inconvenient and frustrating.

Now, what I'd want to see is people completely stop paying taxes every year. Millions of people, no longer paying taxes. Does it dare the government to arrest everyone or what? That'd be an entertaining thought.

@snownyte@kbin.social avatar

I don't want to be filthy rich because I think I'd do a lot of dumb things more than I would doing charitable things.

I just want to be paid enough so it doesn't feel like I look at how little I have left to play around going "eh, I'm okay with this" when I know I'm not okay with this in the back of my mind.

@snownyte@kbin.social avatar

I'd be siding with Republicans if they had propped up plans to rebuild a newer America with stronger legislation if they really think the government we have now sucks.

But for decades, it is all about self-serving bullshit as they allow their religious beliefs and other insane ideals govern how they think which in turn, decides how they govern over others.

"While the jury is still out on whether Meta’s new Threads will be a Twitter killer"

Excuse me while I laugh out loud at that line. Yes because the best options people have are a reckless out of touch sycophant or a data farming sycophant. What wonderous choices...

Yes, Decentralization is the future of social media. Because we're fucking tired of all of these platforms, controlled by control freaks with lots of money and a very skewed perception on how it sees their audiences per platform. This isn't a trend. This is a movement. A movement to escape from these decaying platforms. It's not really that hard to see.

And quite frankly, Mark of all people, should stay the fuck away from the idea of decentralization. When he is part of the problem that has lead to us to go to the fediverse route. What does he know and understand with the fediverse, when he's the catalyst as to why the fediverse is more on the spotlight than ever? He is the opposite of decentralization, because all that he cares about is more people he can farm data from and sell under the table to manipulate.

Fuck Musk. Fuck Mark. Fuck Spez.

It doesn't matter what theme you'll use.

It doesn't matter what extension you'll use.

If that community will behave similarly before and after using said theme and extension, then maybe it's the community. Great example shown here from the "helper".

You can't even rant and vent about anything on there anymore. There's like a group of self-proclaimed curators going around that is judging what's a validated rant or not. There's just a lot of stupid characters people play themselves up as on Reddit and even on other platforms like this one. They must live incredibly boring lives to go the lengths they've had to act like this, while still proclaiming the people they're targeting, are the problem.

That's how it's been in my experience. The blocking ratio just amped up more than engaging. This whole thread is probably the most invested I've ever gotten in a long time, probably just out of morbid curiosity meets trying to find an understanding in something I already know what to expect based on previous experiences. Otherwise, the blocks have been trickling more now. Anytime I start having to have block parades on any platform, I just know that my experience on any platform is going to be limited.

People just suck at being rational people.

I never said anything to the likes about how Reddit is out to get me. That's the picture you and every other insecure idiot that's been projecting all of this time. I make a little PSA and you guys interpret it as conspiracy. Makes me think that there's a mix of conspiratards in here too. That's not a me problem, it's you problem. But you guys just refuse to accept that reality, which places you in a different realm than where I'm at.

KBin does not have the perfect blocking tool. A perfect blocking tool would be is if nobody saw my profile and I wouldn't see them replying that includes a string of what they'd be saying, that's adding fuel to the fire on purpose. That to me, is a flawed tool that needs to be fixed.

I don't need such advice as that's what I've been trying to do. But again, the blocking tool is insufficient. All users, I believe, deserve tools to lock their own threads and block. But, that's be "bad" according to some, well, boo hoo. They wouldn't tell anyone that they'd do the same at any given time if they found someone they didn't like.

And I'm not fooled either, I know now that I have stalkers who're going to follow me in every way. Just like they did referring to that Lemmy post, because it's not stalking when they do it, but stalking if someone else did it. And I do presume there's going to be spiteful engagements, forget about the downvoting, because that doesn't mean anything on here.

However, I'm forever going to be the demonized one, despite the huge contrast.
