'sup? So, I am a beginner that has an old Samsung laptop from 2013 with an i3 4005U, a GeForce 710M, 500GB HDD (I will probably upgrade it to an SSD, but not for now.), 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM (the same for the HDD, will probably upgrade to 8GB some time.). It currently has Windows 10 Home but Linux is probably lighter (right?)...
If you ever have the problem of forgetting you were writing something and closing a window, or accidentally navigating away from the page on which you are composing, this is the browser extension to save your ass: Form History Control....
When I tried Mastodon, I found I couldn't get the content I'm interested in there. I'm not really interested in following specific people; instead I want to see posts that fit my interests, regardless of who made them. Hence (apparently very unpopular on the Fediverse), I actually want an algorithm that can create a personalized...
Is reddit really that unaffected? Are tech media companies keeping quiet on purpose? Is the Play app giving more artificial visibility to reddit app VS fediverse apps? It feels like all the mainstream centralized social platforms and search engines (Google) are censoring any updates on reddit's status to maintain a status quo....
The 3D Printing Subreddit has moved to forums.rhombik.com/c/3d_printing . But I can't seem to find it in kbin's search. There was a previous thread asking a similar question about another migrated sub, but based on the solution there, my best guess was that I should go directly to...
Hello Everyone, I was planning to get a hard drive to install Linux in to use for daily driving. I was looking at Nobara for a bit but after the RedHat drama, should I still be using it? or should I look at something else for the time being? Thank you.
It wasn't the fact that there was a limit to see 1000 comments but what they were. The vast majority of my 12 years on Reddit I spent talking about dungeon and dragons 5th edition (DnD 5e) which I started playing early in is lifestyle. It was my first role playing game and I got sucked into the Internet to learn more. Before my...
TL;DR: even if your delete script confirms a full wipe and your Reddit profile page shows zero comment, there may still be comments left over (that you can find through a search engine and delete manually on Reddit)....
I thought about it and it'll be helpful a thread going of folks who made a request, and when they got their data. To help give other folks an idea of when they might here back, if they put a request in now....
Yes I am thinking of using my little TV (composite AV input only (from an HDMI-to-composite dongle)) as my second display. Going command line-only would be ok if I don't have a choice, but then I watch miniDV and VCD footages sometimes. My Mint machine was broken so i didn't have a chance to test that. So not sure if it could go...
I ran into the profile limit so no more comments show up, but they are still on reddit with the csv file having links to the ones that haven't been deleted. There's too much for me to do it manually so would appreciate help if there's some tool to automate the process.
Most Fediverse software supports image uploads, so there's no reason to use Imgur for image hosting. Hell, even on my small single-user server (atomicpoet.org), image hosting is easy peasy. Not only is Imgur not needed, they're an annoyance for those of us who are used to seeing images natively on the Fediverse....
yo idk if this is the right place to put this, so sorry if it's not. Iv been really trying to figure this place out and honestly it feels like they made things overly complicated. I understand the magazines and the federated stuff I guess, maybe. But what the hell is the difference between posts and threads. Also I have noticed...
are there any fediverse (or at least not meta or google owned) short form video content websites or apps? I'd love to leave Instagram behind, but my smooth little monkey brain needs that instant dopamine lmao...
Hello everyone! If you have not yet seen it, @ernest has handed over moderation to @Drusas @Entropywins @ Frog-Brawler (the tag system consistently messes up the link to FB's username lol) and myself here in !politics....
Think about things from the point of view of someone who has never used Reddit or the fediverse, but you've heard about them both from recent news articles and want to see what they are about....
So I got used to the new Reddit UI, but I want to move to Kbin because Reddit is slowly dying. But I have a hard time adapting to the Kbin UI. Is it a third-party Kbin UI that looks like the new Reddit UI?
I have got my privacy report in CSV form and have about 40k comments each with the id parent Id and permalink. Is there a way to parse this to delete script. I know shreddit does it for $15 premium but looking for free options
