A problem many have realized is that there are many /tech, /gaming etc. communities in different instances/servers. There is already https://fediverse.observer/ , so I think it wouldn't be too hard to make a service that periodically roams the fediverse, checks for example the last 100,000 submissions of each (or top 100 active...
Now that Lemmy was hacked pretty badly, I started thinking how much kbin is tested for possible vulnerabilities?...
I want to be able to just click the link from the home page like link aggregators...
Went there and got some… less than savory images. Do not recommend going there....
Why some community's appear empty in kbin while if you go to their instance they have posts?
I created this simple Android app so that I could view the kbin.social in a dedicated browser....
For those that don't know, rabb.it was a site where you basically had a chatroom and a virtual pc that was shared to everyone in the room. It was used to get together and watch youtube/plex/netflix/whatever together, and everyone was able to control the browser on the virtual PC. I don't even think you needed to have an account...
I cannot personally dedicate the time to moderation, but I do want to be active in this magazine....

Looks like the cookie banner blocker, originally scheduled for Firefox 114, didn’t make it into today’s Firefox 115 either. Brave and DuckDuckGo already block cookie banners....
It seems like it would help further prevent censorship, given how each instance of the Fediverse is run by people who can unilaterally decide what their users see. I'm beginning to feel like federation is but a half-step toward a solution.
Just like how every post will include a description of the magazine at the bottom, I think it makes sense to include a description of the instance too....
I recently upgraded my TrueNAS server to a Synology. While TN has served me well, I don’t have the time anymore to administer it....
I'm a bit confused about if I needed a new account here or I could of used my mastodon account? Can we browse lemmy through mastodon and post? Can we see mastodon posts here?
A few days ago when I was using /sub I only saw the magazines that I subscribed to. This seems like the intended behavior. But now I see threads from all kinds of magazines plus the ones subscribed under /sub. How can I hide the magazines I am not subscribed to from the subscribed threads view?...
As we start to see more users join, it's inevitable to see trolls (especially low-effort trolls) making more of an appearance and trying to be controversial and noticed....
I've checked the fedipact signatories, but they all seem to be lemmy instances.
That includes images, and both on mobile and PC.
Here's my prediction, but I'd like others to contribute their predictions as well. I think it's important that we make ourselves aware of signs before they start showing, and that we have a record to point to if things play out exactly as we predict....
I just bought a "new" homelab server and am considering adding in some used/refurbished NVIDIA Tesla K80s. They have 24 GB of VRAM and tons of compute power for very cheap if you get them used....
