Even better would be if they spread out over more instances instead ofself-centralising on a few ‘flagship’ instances. But no judgement, it’s understandable; just keep in mind you can always move to another and connect with the same communities!
Just check join-lemmy.org/instances and see if there’s an instance that speaks to you. It’s theme (or lack thereof), politics, location, size, who it does or doesn’t federate with, etc. But like I said, no pressure, it’s normal to have to find your footing first.

Just killed mine a few ago. I was on for 9 years and although I was more of a lurker, I had some good times on there. So many good saved content, so many liked posts and comments, so many laughs and memories. I am ready to focus on kbin and start that all over here. Its like a good relationship that ended but I am ready to move on.
Yep, the whole thing had ordinary and third party app users pitted against each other, only because blaming the mods would've reopened the subs faster than going against reddit itself. And the fact that 90% of reddit don't use third party app makes it that much worse. Goddammit spez you cunning mf.
Among higher than average users it seemingly was. Given that reddit was saying the third party apps were using above average amounts of API calls per user. They said it's because of the 3PAs baing unoptimized but it was likely that more engaged users used 3PAs.

Anecdotal, but I've been talking about this whole thing to my partner. She doesn't really care though because, in her own words: "I tried to use Reddit a little while ago, but I didn't like the app"
It is. I was just using it because I thought I would support Reddit with it. But the recent changes showed what you get for that. Now I'm not using Reddit anymore.
Yeahhh... Out of all those I tried, that was by far my favorite. So much so that I didn't even remember how unintuitive the regular website was til I had to shoot someone a quick message, fumbled uselessly through my chats, and realized I really had to google how to find my inbox on a site I've used every day for four years.
Despite his stated disinterest, there's apparently been talk about the dev re-releasing it for Lemmy instead and I can't tell if there's truth to that or not. The app store listing seems like some unnecessary work for just a placeholder.
......but I don't use lemmy, so I'll just have to see what Artemis is about.
I’m unsure what the glitch is, but I got something weird. I’m also getting the unable to load message on RiF, so I was getting ready to delete the app. As a sentimental moment to say goodbye, I clicked to log out. Then bam - pages start loading? I can browse Reddit but can’t interact. Is this just some cached glitch?
I clicked the link and thought, I'll read this and be done. RIF is also kaput. I've decided to keep it installed because all my Reddit links default to RIF and this way I won't accidentally give Reddit any traffic.
I was hoping he put something special in like a countdown with that last update. Or that you could still open it and see something. App is totally dead.
Update: Apparently Reddit killed all the third party apps themselves early. Probably knowing we would comment only to protest and complain.

Reddit had been to go-to place for NSWF content, which drove a ton of traffic and engagement for reddit. If the fediverse is to succeed, it must target the same use case.
