I've been testing out Mbin on the kbin.run instance and it sure feels faster but it also feels empty and I'm pretty sure it's because Kbin / Mbin requires someone to have searched for a user or community/magazine before you can actually see it. Seems like this could hinder smaller instances in the long run.
Plants
Our living beings, you may have left our eyes, but you have never left our hearts.
The second largest kingdom, after the animal, is represented by plants. The distinctive feature of plants is obtaining energy from sunlight, through the process called photosynthesis. Most plants have wide flat surfaces - the leaves, at the level of which this process is carried out. Just as there are many groups of animals, from simple worms to complicated mammals, so the groups of plants are also numerous and varied.
Mainly plants are divided into two broad categories – simple plants without flowers, and flowering plants.
Plants never seem to be active. But inside the millions of microscopic cells that form the body of a plant, thousands of chemical transformations take place, forming part of the body's vital processes. Like the body of an animal, the body of a plant has specialized areas to perform certain functions. Roots take from the soil water, mineral salts and other substances necessary for life. The rigid stem supports parts of the plant on the surface of the soil, away from animals on the ground that might eat them, and above other plants so that the leaves capture more light.
The leaves of plants are a kind of small factories that produce food with the help of light. They have a wide surface, to capture as much light as possible, and contain inside a green substance called chlorophyll, which absorbs the energy provided by sunlight. Chlorophyll uses energy to achieve a chemical reaction. Water, absorbed from the soil, and carbon dioxide, received from the air, unite and form glucose, which contains a large amount of energy stored in chemical form. Glucose is then used as a" fuel " for the plant's vital processes. The whole phenomenon is called photosynthesis-a word that means"to produce with the help of light".
The carbon dioxide needed for photosynthesis is taken from the air. It penetrates the leaf through small holes located on its lower face, called the stomata. In addition to organic substances, photosynthesis also results in oxygen, which is eliminated in the air.
Living beings need oxygen to live. Plants contribute to maintaining a sufficient amount of oxygen in the air.
We were only able to offer you a small space and positioned on the north-west side of the building, even if it was against our wishes. However, we lived together for a shorter or longer period of time. Thank you for this and for all you have offered. We hope that many wounds can be healed with these words: Forgive us!
Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is but a horizon; and a horizon is nothing but the limit of our sight. - Rossiter W. Raymond
This has got to be the vaguest kind. The guys running this corner of the fediverse have better internet access than me, may have 5x better PCs than me and have the power to check my account several times, and still ban me for this.
I hope they review this a hundred times again. I mean, look at the gap of my comments'/posts' date there...I only sparingly use the upvote and downvote there, based off my feelings on certain posts or comments. (And here I thought they will not copycat the orange app's voting system...)
If they have decided to keep this decision forever, I hope #Kbin will be kind to me...
@asunaspersonalasst Are you using a shared connection with any other users, or perhaps a VPN? I'd wager that they found an IP match with another account that was upvoting/downvoting content, as that usually throws up red flags in most moderator tools (though I don't know what kind of tools LW has in this regard).
Oddly, I don't feel disgusted about having a robust list of blocked users, communities, and domains on the fediverse. Instead it actually feels like I have some level of control over what I see, rather than say, "suggesting" to YouTube that I don't want to see more neo-nazi propaganda and hoping it actually listens to me.
I get what you mean. With how federation works I feel like instead of subscribing to communities I can almost do the inverse and block the ones I don’t like.
I'm thinking, y'know how Mastodon and Kbin are kind of part of the Fediverse? I've decided to use Kbin, and it's interesting.
It's smooth even on the mobile web browser (that's surprising, I rarely see that!)
Come follow me on Mastodon @CandyRushSweetest for Linux stuff and maybe some art & my @CandyRushSweetest for my "problematic fiction" takes and also my artwork! (I may repost NSFW or things that make you uncomfy - like Lolisho, for instance, so please keep that in mind when you follow me on Aethy. Other than that, mastodon.social doesn't have that stuff on there
Also, I'm on Misskey as well: @CandyRushSweetest & @CandyRushSweetest!
It’s definitely going to be interesting to see this.
I hope Threads soon becomes available in Europe since that's a HUGE audience to lose from an app. After all, Facebook and Instagram are available in EU, so for Europe to be all of a sudden having strange feelings about Meta? This is kind of strange.
They haven't done this before, have they?
I understand that with certain laws coming into effect that it could be a problem
I want to hear from people who have two ActivityPub instances running in Docker containers, on the same Docker network, and have them federating with each other.
