Today's social media transform us into merely numbers.
No problem for me.

You are looking at subscriber numbers, and this table counts Monthly Active Users (who posted, commented or voted) of the community.

(yes, it is a table now :))

You can still use /kbin via another instance: there is kbin.earth by the developer of Interstellar app.

Technically it would be this

karab.in and bin.pol.social are Polish,
kbin.cafe has been abandonned with many instances have already blocked it,
wiku.hu is (Hungarian) silo.

Sublinks Aims to Be a Drop-In Replacement for Lemmy ( wedistribute.org )

Seems like an interesting effort. A developer is building an alternative Java-based backend to Lemmy’s Rust-based one, with the goal of building in a handful of different features. The dev is looking at using this compatibility to migrate their instance over to the new platform, while allowing the community to use their apps...

From the project website:

Sublinks, crafted using Java Spring Boot, stands as a state-of-the-art link aggregation and microblogging platform , reminiscent yet advanced compared to Lemmy & Kbin.

But the author of PieFed, written in even more popular language than Java (Python) said:

The thing with the more twitter-style ActivityPub projects is they send activities to individual users inboxes a lot, whereas with the threadverse it's all shared inboxes. So there's a fundamental difference in the way they use the protocol which makes scaling those projects much more difficult. My gut feel is that adding full microblog support would increase the size and complexity of the codebase by at least 50% and triple the server load. Maybe much more. It just doesn't seem worth it.

A feature creep?

(maybe they see a bus factor = 1 as the only issue of /kbin, though)

I'm using on and tried to rollback it to previous remaster. However, I had updated the kernel to newer version before.
In effect, the OS "didn't finish up booting", or, rather threw (as I saw after Alt-F1) an (uncritical) error about new kernel unavailable and booted up to CLI. To recover from this, I used the same live-kernel-updater, but rolled back the kernel version instead of updating. This recovered the system.

This should be helpful also for users as both distros share their LiveUSB utilities.

This is the language of my interface, and it seems that it makes Polish a default submission language.

And, of course, there is no language detection on the Fediverse.

I have edited thread language, thanks!

Shouldn't this be "Photos"? All I see are individual photos posted and no discussion or interaction. There isn't even an about section in the sidebar. This really feels like a magazine that was created because someone thought that people would expect it to exist, then abandoned.

Kierunkowy74 ,
@Kierunkowy74@kbin.social avatar

@Squidcopter ATM lots of Mastodon users post their photos under the tag "Photography" and it's not going to change because of what we want on /kbin. Individual photo posting, at least on microblog, is here to stay. It may be interesting to devote the threads to discussion/interaction on photography, and "toots" to individual photos, though.

There was a list of subreddits, which participated in 12 VII blackout. I tried to make list of equivalents of these on Fediverse - to make switch to Lemmy/kbin easier.
