kiwifoxtrot , in Bathroom Exhaust Question
@kiwifoxtrot@lemmy.world avatar

Shouldn’t be a problem to tie them both together. You’ll want to add check valves on both lines before they join together. If you haven’t bought a fan yet, I highly recommend the Panasonic WhisperFit series. They pull a ton of air, are energy efficient, and are very quiet. I went from having condensation on my mirror after a shower to nothing at all.

Are you able to include some pictures by chance?

Neb , in How do you texture drywall without it looking like hot garbage?

I have never done this myself (not a lot of drywall in europe), but I found this video which seems to describe exactly what you want youtu.be/FonedKgrP5U?t=224

hope it helps!

witten OP ,

Thanks, I’m watching it now!

EDIT: Looks like they’re using one of the spray cans. I’ve tried one of those before—with uneven results. Maybe I need to work on my technique though.

Good find. Wish I had this video when I did my repair.

shoephones , in How do you texture drywall without it looking like hot garbage?

Just to add on, I’ve heard it’s good to practice on cardboard to get the right pattern

witten OP ,

Yup, that totally makes sense. I’m running out of cardboard though. :D

ScottE , in How do you texture drywall without it looking like hot garbage?

I use the spray cans, and it just takes some practice. If the result isn’t good you can wipe it off and try again. It’s not an easy skill to master at all.

witten OP ,

Okay, thanks. Sounds like another vote for the spray cans. Good to know that I just need to keep at it!

Billy_Gnosis , in New water heater got dinged during shipping/delivery. Is it usable?
@Billy_Gnosis@lemmy.world avatar

No expert, but that looks like it took a pretty heavy hit. I probably wouldn’t risk it. Depending on how bad the old one is leaking, you may want to turn the water off and deal with no water for a couple of days

yankeebobo , in New water heater got dinged during shipping/delivery. Is it usable?
@yankeebobo@lemmy.world avatar

That’s not what you paid for regardless of whether it’s safe. But I wouldn’t

generally_incorrect , in New water heater got dinged during shipping/delivery. Is it usable?

I say send it back. Safe or not you shouldn’t be stuck with that.

Can you tilt it back and forth? Hear anything rattle?

flying_monkies , in New water heater got dinged during shipping/delivery. Is it usable?
@flying_monkies@kbin.social avatar

Nope, anything where the box has a hole through it I refuse to accept the shipment. I've seen too many incidents where "it looks fine, it's a small hole" turn into a nightmare.

ptz , in Has anyone successfully removed carpenter bees?
@ptz@dubvee.org avatar

I bought a fancy trap, and they chewed through it.

I hung paper bags up to simulate a hornets nest. Useless

I’ve filled in their burrows and repainted. Nope.

Only thing that has worked is hunting them with my pup. She’ll track and bark at them, I’ll swat them down with a broom, she pins 'em, and I go in for the kill with my boot.

Would love to find a more hands off solution that works, though.They’re literally eating me out of home.

sagittarie , in New water heater got dinged during shipping/delivery. Is it usable?
@sagittarie@lemmy.world avatar

Considering how problematic water heaters can be, I’d refuse shipment on that. Especially with the glass lining. It looks like someone hit it with a forklift or something.

@sagittarie@lemmy.world avatar

The rocks could be tightly packed silt, loose sandstone, or maybe mica from excavation. Pictures would help.

Number1 OP ,

Sorry for the late reply!

Here are some of the rocks. A big pile. An example of the breakable rocks and the “real” ones

Yeah looks like Mica and sandstone. Unfortunately landscapers/contractors love to just cover things up with top soil and run away.

Here is the further away part. And surprisingly no, it has not gotten any bigger.
