Voyager and Paramount Plus

I just started watching Voyager on Paramount Plus today, and noticed that the first two episodes, which are shown together, are presented as the appropriate 4:3 aspect ratio, but Episode 3 “Parallax” is presented in a distorted 16:9 or 16:10 format. I see no option to change this in Paramount Plus settings, and my Vizio TV...

Streaming services and aspect ratios are always an issues. That and what “cut” of the video they got.

I just want to know what type of emergency only costs $500 anymore?

Mine was built in the 80s. I spent the morning crawling around my crawl space. There may be one down there but I can’t find it or it’s beind the sewer line I can’t get past, which just means I don’t have one. There is a knob in my garage which I have no idea what it goes it. I have turned it till it won’t turn both ways any nothing has happened that I could find.

Maybe? I’d have no idea where to look that I hadn’t already.

AnotherPerson OP ,

Mine comes in in our crawl space but I can’t get to where it comes in becasue of a sewer line that runs the width of the crawl and I can’t fit past it.

I’m in the Pacific Northwest at about a thousand feet elevation so the ground does freeze here. I have an idea where it comes into the crawl so maybe outside that area?

Got it, thanks.

AnotherPerson OP ,
@AnotherPerson@lemmy.world avatar

From what I can tell it’s all done from the crawl and branches off from a central lines to feed the various outlets.

Thanks for the clear and straightforward answer. 😊

I’d be absolutely ecstatic for a 1:4 ratio.

AnotherPerson ,

You can also raise the bottom to make that ratio reach the top…

It’s from a garage to an interior wall. I’m not sure if that would qualify as exterior or not.

What’s an expansion tank? I set it up like the old one was set up. All I did was disconnect the old one and reconnect the new one to the same pipes coming out of the wall.

AnotherPerson OP ,

It’s in a concrete garage, and a foam pad is recommended over a pan.

In reading it looks like it is for homes newer than 1986? Our old water heater was 20 years old and we never had any issues with the pressure getting too high.

I was surprised how noticeable the cooling effect in the garage was. Granted it wasn’t that warm of a day but I’m curious what it will do on 90+ days.

AnotherPerson OP ,
@AnotherPerson@lemmy.world avatar

It provides thermal insulation since the tank is on a concrete slab.

AnotherPerson OP ,
@AnotherPerson@lemmy.world avatar

If it’s necessary then how did my last tank make it 20 years without one?

Yeah but that was like the coolest mythbusters episode ever /s

What should I do about cracks in the foundation/crawl space? ( lemmy.world )

Newer home owner here. I have these cracks on the foundation of the house. Behind them is a crawl space open to dirt. How should I fix or address these? Do they need to be fixed? I try and DIY as much as I can so don’t be afraid to suggest a DIY solution. I’m also not above getting professional help, I just haven’t had to...

I have no idea why the pic is sideways. Sorry about that.

Any way to correct this on my end?

Career advice: should I give this interviewer a second chance?

Yesterday I had an interview for a certain position. Last Monday it had been scheduled for one location but on Friday it got moved to another. At the last minute yesterday, apparently it had gotten switched to the original interview location, and I was not notified until I got to that second location and waited a few minutes. I...

Unless this job is of personal significance for you (meaning it has the ability to advance your career in a significant way) then I would start shopping around again. But that’s just me.

AnotherPerson OP ,

Not that I know of. None of our other appliances are gas, everything is electric.

Pacific Northwest, so not too cold. I was hoping it was a whole house shut off but I don’t want to break it either.

AnotherPerson ,
@AnotherPerson@lemmy.world avatar

I felt the same way. I wonder if it hit different on TV at the time.

Should we take bets on whether or not he’ll “rub one out” in the holo deck?
