In the cases with the cursor still showing (and maybe even in the cases with the half-frozen sddm screen (it’s actually probably going to be a lockscreen, not sddm)): Can you still switch to a TTY (e.g. CTRL+Alt+F2 or F3)? If so, you could try to run export DISPLAY=:0; killall plasmashell; sleep 5; plasmashell --replaceand see if this resolves the issue?

If your computer becomes frozen and unresponsive then its most like a kernel problem not KDE problem.

Can u try going to sleep while running dmesg --follow ?

Update: I found the option to delete duplicate acounts from configure kmail but now it just doesn’t show any tasks at all. Not even personal tasks

This is weird :( First time I see this bug (and I’m monitoring most of the akonadi bug reports). What happens if you run akonadictl restart in konsole?

I’ve just used Itinerary for a few flights I needed to take and it worked really well. I love these really high quality mobile apps KDE are making!

"Itinerary" is so hard for me (German) to pronounce... Couldn't it be renamed to something like "TravelSKedule" or something a bit more "flowing"? The work in it seems awesome (and a very good example in working together with other FLOSS communities, like OpenStreetMaps etc.)

    Kalendar allow syncing events from various sources e.g. Nextcloud or any DAV service. I think this should also work with google tasks but I’m not 100% sure (event and tasks are different api with the google api)

    Kalender works fine. I expected not seeing sub-tasks but glad to see it. It exceeded my expectations a bit

    hmm, that’s a tough one, the KDE defaults are pretty good these days. maybe try to identify any points of friction and configure KDE to be more similar to Windows. a few that come to mind:

    Ensure double-click is selected for opening files in Dolphin

    Ensure Flatpak is working in Discover

    Windows users are used to desktop icons, if she wants that, set the desktop to Folder View (or teach her the glorious ways of Application Launcher and a clean icon-less desktop)

    Play around with the different options for Application Launchers, Taskbar, Task switcher.

    Set up virtual desktops, and the desktop switcher applet? it’s such a killer feature. just tell her about it so she doesn’t get annoyed all her windows are suddenly gone. also maybe disable “scroll on desktop background to switch virtual desktop”

    I’m not sure if setting up a Windows-like theme is a good idea or not? If everything looks “the same” she’ll expect it to work the same way, and get annoyed whenever it doesn’t.

    Because it’s KDE, remind her that if there’s something she doesn’t like, chances are she can change it.

    OH, and use dark theme! Breeze Light looks kinda meh and old fashioned. Breeze Dark looks slick and modern

    Don’t know about Gnome Tasks, but if you got a Nextcloud account somewhere, then you get quite a simple UI for your events and tasks with Kalendar.
