[Solved]What happened to my background/desktop? ( lemmy.world )

After an update I noticed discover was this weird yellow color, I opened settings and noticed it too was yellow, thinking it was some bug, I restarted PC, now everything is yellow. I tried inverting colors but that is something completely different. I'm not even sure what was updated to cause this....

I'm also experiencing this bug, regardless on which theme I set (Breeze, Breeze Dark, Breeze Dark EndeavourOS, Breeze Twilight). The folder icon is the only one with this problem, and only when the window has focus

This is the file you want to edit, lines 31~34. Make sure to not mess it up because it may break your Plasma Desktop, but if you only change the values it’s okay. Keep in mind that at the next update it will be resetted and your changes will be lost, you may want to backup your modifications or something like that, or perhaps create a new plasmoid inherited from this with only your changes (I’m not 100% sure this can be done)

Have you tried some custom icon packs from the kde store?

I think that you can create a theme inheriting from the theme you choose (breeze in your case) all icons, changing the ones you tell him, so you could just slightly edit the icons you dislike and apply the changing you want, and if the theme comes out nice you can upload it on the kde store and share it! If all you need to do is to change colors no skill is required, just install inkscape and you’re done

    Probably it’s the icon’s fault, you can find the icon somewhere in the /usr/share/icons I think (if you have cuttlefish installed you can find the location easier), and then you can edit it and remove some white border around it to make it bigger. At the first update it will be resetted tho, so it’s probably better to copy it as a new icon “steam-resized” for example, and then use kmenuedit to change the icon used by steam

    There is a way! I wrote this tool exactly for this purpose, and works on both x11/wayland: codeberg.org/tubbadu/ktoggle

    it writes a kwin script on a temporary file, installs it, runs it and uninstalls it. All using DBUS communication.
    it works quite well (there is just rarely an unexpected behavior I didn’t find the time to fix yet), I use it daily for lots of apps like telegram, whatsapp, qalculate and a note taking app

    once compiled and installed you can just assign to a hotkey the command

    and you’re done! read the readme to see an explanation of all available flags

    (note: this is a work in progress, I have little time to maintain it, so don’t expect it to be perfect!)

    It was the best way I found to do it, because I couldn’t find a proper way to run a kwin script with an argument (the program name and class), so I decided to just modify the script and then install and run it, and uninstall at the end. “Install” only takes a blink, although it may be made faster, for example implementing a sort of “caching” of the last used script in order to avoid removing and reinstalling the same script, perhaps one day I’ll try to implement it. My first attempt at it was done using KWindowSystem api, but something didn’t work so I had to give up and just install the scripts. perhaps I can try again with PlasmaWindowManagement, I may be luckier

    The way I’d have expected to do that would be to override the globalToolBarItem of the Kirigami.Page, but it’s read only, so I don’t really know how to help you with that. You should ask in the Kirigami Matrix room or in the Discuss forum.
