Measles could once again become endemic in the US, the CDC warns

This year's measles cases are over 17x higher than cases seen in the first quarters of 2000 to 2023.

@arstechnica So... it'll just circulate, and circulate, until it inevitably finds the immunocompromised. Wonderful.

@arstechnica I'm still convinced that, with the help of COVID-19 raging completely uncontrolled and antivaxxers, even stuff like Polio that has been considered to be mostly eliminated is all going to make a comeback.

It's about to be a really fun time to be a child in 'Murika.

@arstechnica ah. I see “endemic” is now “bad”. Cough cough COVID.

@arstechnica - Why are people arguing about those who choose whatever, when the underlying surge comes from immigration-based carriers?
Maybe if we forced people to use the proper immigration process, get documented, and show that golden vaccine passport or get vaccinated to enter we'd all be better for it. Less criminals and illness pouring over a sovereign nations' border doesn't sound like a bad thing...Unless you actually want plagues and misery.

@arstechnica

Luckily our society trusts the science and understands the value of vaccination, quarantine, and keeping up on changes as data turns into information.

We got this!
