The American police has a fundamental problem: virtually any idiot can become a police officer! In Germany, you have to pass various basic aptitude tests and then undergo 2 to 2.5 years of education, training, and psychological tests. If you don't pass the final test, you won't be accepted into the service. In Germany, education and training is required before serving with a weapon, whereas in America any bully can work with a weapon in the near future.
@georgetakei I don't know why anyone thinks Reacher (the character) is particularly right wing. Almost the first scene in the series was him expecting unreasonable behaviour from US police. Yes, he's a vigilante (a popular fictional role), but he's against people misusing the law as much as those breaking it.
@georgetakei my question is this. What makes his opinion worth more than someone else. The answer is it doesn't. So maybe instead of saying reform.... Why not support and work at reform in a less public way.
