@arstechnica you got Physalis alkekengi mixed up with Ashwagandha. The victims are most likely suffering from Chinese Lantern poisoning. This company is pushing " adaptogens". There are no psychedelics involved, but a member on the nightshade family.

They're using Ashwagandha (winter cherry) in the mix that can be confused w/ the Chinese "winter cherry" (Chinese Lantern). Fucking sketchy website & company. Hope they're held accountable and none of the victoms lose their lives or incure severe health problems as a result (liver damage etc.) SMH.
