@arstechnica Microsoft hasn't had proper and useful documentation for their OS in like 2 decades now. It has been a piecemeal mess that is only useful after the community of users writes the rest of it for them. And then what did they do? Broke every old link on their documentation site. I'm moving to linux soon. Almost all the games I own work on it now, and there isn't a single piece of Windows-only software that I can't do without.

Meanwhile I ditched Windon't after the news of not only trying to force Recall on everyone but also the fact that they were hoping no one would notice a security vulnerability that was explicitly used in the SolarWinds hack of 2021, completely wiped the SSD, and flashed a fresh install of Linux Mint 21.3 (my machine previously dual-booted Windon't 11 and LM21.3).
@arstechnica Fun fact: if your online account gets locked -- such as if you log into your account on a console apparently (that's what did it for me. I logged into Minecraft. That's it. Just logged in. Didn't make any purchases, didn't even play online. Just logged in) it breaks access to your computer. And if you log in with a second account, anything encrypted with the first is inaccessible. This is a big problem if you don't want to give them personal info (like your cell number.)

Local accounts are marginally harder to vacuum up data from. That, with apologies to Charlie Pierce, is a situation up with which Microsoft will not put.
