The alpha versions of Plasma 6, Gear 24.02 and Frameworks 6 are now available.

Note that "Alpha" means NOT ready for production! Use for testing and reporting bugs only. End users: keep clear.

This is a testing version of KDE's 6th Megarelease. The final version is scheduled to be available in February.

For those curious, the "Building " animation was made using @kdenlive and then @krita's cel-animation feature.

The whole thing was then finally put together again in Kdenlive.

Yes, we eat our own dog food at .

After a couple of false starts, the Krita animation tool proved surprisingly easy to use.

Cool KDE Plasma Tip: Quickly access task manager apps with [Meta] + [number]

@kde's task manager usually lives in the panel located by default at the bottom of your desktop (see attached image).

Quickly open or display apps shown in the task manager by holding down the [Meta] (aka "Windows") key and hitting one of the number keys at the top of your keyboard.

Reach the first app on the left with [Meta] + [1], the second from the left with [Meta] + [2], etc.

    Cool KDE Plasma trick: [Meta] + [v]

    You know how you can use [Ctrl] + [v] to paste in place the last thing you copied to the clipboard, right?

    A cool and productive-enhancing variant of that available in 's desktop is that, when copying and pasting a lot of different things, you can hold down the [Meta] ("Windows") key and hit [v], and a list of all the elements available on the clipboard will pop up so you can choose what to paste next.

    @kde @kde In a sense it feels long overdue, but it also does take time and feels very new...

    My question is what happens to Qt5? I feel like it's because of it continues to be maintained at all, and yet many other projects still utterly depend on Qt5, even believe they don't need to migrate to Qt6 or otherwise refuse to. I believe HelloSystems is in this category.
