Microsoft removes documentation for switching to a local account in Windows 11

But most Microsoft account sign-in workarounds for Windows 11 continue to work.

So, did my monthly upgrade of -current. Two things that caught my attention:

is now provided out the box (awesome)
is now enabled out of the box and is configurable (Even more awesome)

I was sad to find a surprising lack of visual scripting apps for Linux. Apple's Shortcuts app is very powerful and can be incredibly useful. It's not like we don't have the technical ability to make something similar.

So I started working on one myself :blobfoxfloofcofe:

A screencast showing a visual scripting app called "Actions" sending a notification with an editable title and description.

Try these Linux bash aliases for more efficient use of the command line

For those who don’t know, bash aliases allow you to create unique command shortcuts. So, a simple word can be used to run a more complex command which may have a lot of additional parameters, e.g. just type the word ‘update’ to execute an update com ...continues

@arstechnica @Viss I wish articles like this would include, up front, the indicators of compromise that I can use to test if the servers I manage are affected. It's the first and most important thing I want to know when learning about a vulnerability.

I've been making my Quickemu project macOS-compatible; meaning it can run on a macOS host 🍎

Quickemu is a project to quickly create and run optimised Linux, macOS and Windows virtual machines 👍

Here's my test case in action:

This is NixOS ❄️ running a virtual machine of macOS Ventura 🍏 via Quickemu, which is running a virtual machine of Aline Linux 🐧 via Quickemu

    The project is here: https://github.com/quickemu-project/quickemu

FOSS - ensuring even new hardware stays in use when vendor-support eventually ends!

Whether or not you install GNU/Linux on it today, your new will eventually lose support. Thanks to the impressive work of project (@AsahiLinux), it will not need to end up in the landfill once it does.

I have noticed a few Linux distros which include:

    virtualbox-guest-additions

Preinstalled even though Virtual Box is not installed. It seems easy enough to uninstall, as nothing seems to depend on it. But it does beg the question of why it is included.
