#OptGreen with #GNU/#Linux to keep your device in use! These machines will run beautifully for many years to come.
Not only wallet friendly, #upcycling keeps CO2 emissions out of the atmosphere. Ca. 75% of Apple's emissions comes from production alone (details in alt text).
Running Endeavour OS Linux and just updated to plasma 6.0.5, framework 6.3.0, Qt version 6.7.1 on Wayland. I use capslock strictly as my brain refuses to learn using shift (I do touch type no problem), but as well know the capslock is very slow on Linux which always results in text like THis. So, I've found a fix for it online...
@kde That's why I love KDE:
It has cute mascot
It is minimalistic
It is beautiful
It has a big amount of features
It has a big amount of good apps
It can tweaked
Really appreciate everything you and the entire #FOSS community are doing. I've used Linux for decades now, and it just keeps getting better. I recently installed Linux on a 10+ year old laptop that was barely running Win10, and it's back to totally functional, and even snappy! #KDE is of course the best DE ever :)
FOSS - ensuring even new hardware stays in use when vendor-support eventually ends!
Whether or not you install GNU/Linux on it today, your new #Mac will eventually lose #Apple support. Thanks to the impressive work of #Asahi#Linux project (@AsahiLinux), it will not need to end up in the landfill once it does.
It's been fairly stable as I would expect from an LTS. There's LOT of hiccups with whatever is happening in the tray area (power and battery sometimes doesn't work).
Language is pretty screwed up. I speak both English/Spanish in a Spanish location. Installer chooses half spanish and english in the /etc/locale, and has issues changing it in the frontend.
Overall nothing I can't fix as I put stability overall
#KEcoLab is a KDE tool for measuring software's #energy consumption, but it needs robust testing to ensure stable functionality after code changes. Sarthak presents his work in Season of #KDE 2024 implementing dedicated test builds with #Kate test scripts.
"make capslock an additional Ctrl" option was removed in the latest update
