I like to ask a variety of questions, sometimes silly, serious, and/or strange. Never asking in an attempt to pester or “just asking questions” stuff.

I’m generally curious and/or trying to get a sense of people’s views.

Huh, thanks for the detailed reply! I suspected some of them must have something extra going on to help their time in the water, but wouldn't have thought this!

Were you able to feel how dry the otter was through the sealed fur, or was it sealed enough that you couldn't really tell?

ALostInquirer OP ,

Second, as a disposable, dead layer, it also provides protection against UV light and such. We don’t think of living out of water under the direct radiation from the sun as being particularly difficult or the environment harsh, because we casually do it every day, but it was a very hard problem for life to solve.

Oh yeah, that's a good point! I'd typically be more concerned with the drying out part for a lot of aquatic life, forgetting about the UV exposure issues.

Thanks for the pointers, I'll have to give'em a look! Eusociality does sound right in line with what I was wondering about, but hadn't heard of it before!

KDE Connect should only enable downloading files from allowed directories, right? [issue report found, may be very old notifications]

I was working on some stuff on my PC and stepped away for a bit, and on returning noticed notifications on it that some files had been downloaded via KDE Connect from my phone. I was using my phone at the time, and didn't send the files....

ALostInquirer OP ,

Fairly certain, as I hadn't downloaded anything on my phone when away from my PC that would have produced a notification to mirror. Also, sorry, I should have mentioned from the start that I typically run my phone in Do Not Disturb and Silent to minimize any notifications whatsoever.

On further digging I did notice that it looks as though the files mentioned in the notifications may have been downloads, but from literally years ago in, I think, every case (e.g. from 2018!). I don't think I even had Connect installed back then to have caught those notifications. 🤨

Are recalls possible in other US states, such that people could try to recall other governors?

Isn’t there an adaptation for some organisms that’s basically, “im just a fren c’mere and give me a pat” and then you help them the most by feeding them and they always remember you fondly as, “mmmmm good nom”?

ALostInquirer ,

Out of curiosity, are you Canadian, or just on the Canadian instance? I ask because if memory serves the search results tend to be a combination of search history (if you have personalized ads enabled, you can opt out of them), country/region, and general subject/topic (so in this case social apps), probably among other details.

ALostInquirer OP ,

Thanks! Trying to get a better sense of working within the constraints of smartphone cameras to learn when or if I might want to move on to a dedicated camera is why I was asking this, and I think your points have helped get a better sense of some of the constraints to take into account. Appreciate it!

ALostInquirer OP ,

Oh, that’s a fair point on both counts, I should have specified non-human organisms. Still, we’re apparently really good at digging deep holes, so that’s fun!

ALostInquirer OP ,

That sounds like some pretty dedicated earthworms! Also, as noted in another comment about the Alice reference, that’s a good point, albeit I guess one could say it’s about more of a figurative depth than literal given the curious places they go!
