100%. One of the reasons I didn't join a union as a skilled worker is that I don't want to be locked into doing the same exact thing for the rest of my career.
Good for them! I'm glad they got an excellent contract!
But we need to keep in mind that "and benefits" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I looked at the contract, the pay is something like 30-40 an hour. Good, definitely a living wage, but not $170,000 good. People see that number and think it's the salary.
imo (and I'm not a manager, though I occasionally do manage people) there's different levels of collaboration. If you get the whole company in one room, that's one level of energy. If you get 5 separate but related teams in a room, that's another level. And if you get just 5 random people from the company together, that's another level.
There's definitely a balance to be had, but having your office be empty every Friday is not efficient, even if you want to increase socializaion and collaboration.
Plus there's some benefit to providing workers a place that isn't their house to work. Some people just need to go somewhere else to be at their most productive, not necessarily just for socializing.
And ideally this is how it should work to maximize usefulness of the space...oh, everyone else is gone on Fridays, I'll come in Friday instead of Tuesday
Still coming in 3 days a week except now everyone is happier
Sure, when it happens to Nazis, fuck em, they're scum
But like...I'll bet some of you reading are Communists. There's a lot of employers who would fire you for affiliating with communist groups. Or pro-union groups.
I don't like the precedent of ruining someone's life because it can easily be turned around on you.
I disagree, I think Apple users are elitist picks who care about brand recognition way more than is healthy. Text bubble color, seriously? The level of peer pressure that young people face to use apple products is unhealthy for society.
Funny, I use web browsers because apps are almost universally terrible. Tons of white space, suck up all your data, need a sign in which usually just redirects to a web page anyway, bloated, run slower, oh and most important of all I can't block ads.
No, [every company in existence], I do not want to download your app.
