As a former listener I just enjoyed that he had people on I both wanted to hear from and people who were talking about shit I never heard of so it filled din as background noise while working. Even when he was misinformed it was merely the topic of the day. Sometime around when he had Dan Crenshaw on for the first time is when I remember him really digging into weird rightwing talking points. Once covid hit it was over. It was like he moved into an ego silo and he wouldnt even let his guests provide a point of view he didn’t agree with or understand. Every episode became about COVID and the woke left. He really is a fucking misinformation machine who can get away with it because everyone knows he is that fucking stupid.

One of the best ship to ship combat sequences ever made.

Braga: ‘I still cringe when I hear it.’ Apparently, it was a long road to the franchise’s most despised title music ( www.slashfilm.com )

Working from the oral history in The Five Year Mission: The next 25 years, this is a fascinating deep dive that answers the question “How did a recycled cover of a 1998 song written for Rod Stewart, ‘Where My Heart Will Take Me’ aka ‘Faith of the Heart’ become the title music for Enterprise?”...

To quote the great Nicholas Meyer (Director of Wrath of Khan) who spoke on this topic:

“Roddenberry had his own utopian vision about the perfectibility of man, and I never really believed that. And I don’t think the show demonstrates that. I think it is about gunboat diplomacy. In the final analysis, the Enterprise fires. They’re always shooting and bringing civilization, and coming to worlds where they don’t approve of tyrannical enterprises – no pun intended – and they substitute their own quote unquote enlightened version of how society is supposed to work, which is essentially American.”

LoglineAn accident with an experimental quantum probability field causes everyone on the USS Enterprise to break uncontrollably into song, but the real danger is that the field is expanding and beginning to impact other ships—allies and enemies alike....

Another great episode. The a capella theme song was great too.

I love this season. This show has done for me what Discovery didn’t. Made Trek fun or thought provoking when it needs to be while entertaining existing fans and new viewers.

AzPsycho ,

100% agree with you. The TOS loyalists are going out of their way to find excuses to hate this show. It’s the best series I have seen since TNG and I am not saying the others were bad. I actually like all of them with the exception of Discovery because it focuses so heavily on one plotline and one character.

This is an ensemble with humor when it needs it and is more true to the heart of Trek than people are giving it credit.

AzPsycho ,

I am so excited for this. My two favorite current ST series coming together for what I am sure is some fantastic fan service.

AzPsycho ,

What a looney response. This season is fantastic. I think we are watching completely different shows if that’s your take.

AzPsycho ,

I said nothing about politics. My stance isn’t changing. This season is just as good as the first. This is classic Trek.

AzPsycho ,

I remember that. The Magicians was wild and I loved it.

Reddit seems all doom and gloom on the topic but what about Lemmy? And the future of Star Trek?

I saw someone on Reddit wondering why the community was so sure of Trek going dark again with Paramount not doing so well financially. Seeing the response was unfortunate as most people feel that it might be a bad time for Trek. And I guess it makes sense with the Hollywood strikes as well....

AzPsycho ,

SNW and Lower Deck are fucking fantastic. SNW is a true to form traditional Trek show and Lower Decks is funny and diverse enough for those who feel Trek takes itself to seriously.

If Paramount runs afoul of finances I am sure someone will buy the IP rights to at least these. TBH, Strange New Worlds needs to be available on TV and streaming.

AzPsycho ,

I think Strange New Worlds is the best ST in a long long time. I really hope the strike doesn’t derail what I see as a true return to the ST format. Discovery is more like a mini series run since it tends to focus on a singular topic for an entire season.
