Not gonna lie I have a few of these weird ones. My Dad bought them for us as kids, but deep down I bet he wanted them himself haha

Everyone is entitled to their opinions if they like the show or not. I know you opening up and I don’t want to com off mean in any way. I think its pretty awesome you feel comfortable come out with opinion.

But objectively, the characters are far from cynical. You might look into reevaluating what you consider to be cynical in life. Maybe you used just used the wrong word to describe what you meant.

ieightpi ,

I can see where your coming from.

ieightpi ,

Wow that’s quite the undertaking. I wish him luck

ieightpi ,

Let’s keep moving people! Need my SNW before the end of next year!

ieightpi ,

I hope the parallels were intentional. The Expanse is the fucking best. Here’s hoping for the final 3 seasons once the case has aged properly

ieightpi ,

Migleemo’s fight scene was great. After that puffy plumage and thinking himself tough shit was pretty damn funny.

Honestly i kinda want a episode about him. we still don’t know what his species is and clearly the plumage thing is more than just for show…or is it…

ieightpi ,

Agreed. Especially since he was still moving while she wasn’t

ieightpi ,

Mind elaborating on this rich tax? I’m honestly curious but also feeling skeptical. I’m starting to think this is just a joke since it’s in meme form.

Amidst Franchise Changes, Star Trek: Lower Decks' Mike McMahan Gave Us His Worried Perspective On The Show's Future

Pretty self-explanatory tl/dr: if you like the show, watch it (and get your friends onboard).

Damn I really do like the lemmy community more. On other social media aggregators, people are flipping the fuck out.

The more reasonable discourse about this article, on Lemmy is just healthier for everyone’s mental state.

That being said, I tend to agree this is a nothing burger and Leer Decks is likely fine for a few more years. It’s a low budget show and the writing is on point making a broad range of fans happy. I’ve heard this show has actually brought in a lot of new Trek fans too.

ieightpi ,

T’Ana was great in this episode. Especially because of the fact that we got some weird lore about betazoids being prey lol. When she went feral and started hunting, I absolutely lost it.

ieightpi ,

Lol yeah calling her hunny was great.

ieightpi ,

For sure that’s what’s going to happen in a future episode

ieightpi ,

I doubt the writers will give here Bendi syndrome. Seems too dark for Lower Decks

ieightpi ,

So I’m feeling really dumb on my trek lore, but Vulcans have telepathy? I mean I guess their mind meld is a obvious giveaway. I just never considered the two one in the same.

ieightpi ,

Its really fascinating to see how cyclical our culture is. Ive heard historians say that we are experiencing a very similar time period compared to the late 1800s and the early 1900s.

Lets hope that this trend doesn’t lead to another world war and a depression. But I think what these experts have been trying to convey is its likely we will find ourselves in a new social revolution in the coming years. It happened back then, it will happen again.

ieightpi ,

Is optimism just another way of saying someone’s naive? Rhetorical.

I think the doomer mentality in the US has gotten out of hand.

ieightpi ,

Yeah they are pretty dumb. I’ve come to the conclusion that they were written by new writers, getting their feet wet…or something idk.

ieightpi ,

That was the stolen ship at the end?

ieightpi ,

I laughed out loud when that alien ate their bonsai. fucking love this show.

ieightpi ,

If there was any doubt that Paramount was planning to put the IP back in hibernation with all of the cuts in the streaming industry, this promotion clip should ease those doubts.

But i know people will still come back with doom and gloom. Im just trying to help you feel better.

Stay positive Trekkies 🖖

ieightpi ,

Holy shit. Are these currently in production or am I going to need to pay a collectors fee?

ieightpi ,

gah that sucks. He would have been aweomse.

ieightpi ,

Been watching it for the first time. Its been a lot of fun. Huge fan of Olyphant.

ieightpi ,

omg yeah hes been great too. im looking forward to getting to the new series

ieightpi ,

me too. we need more of the Gorn in other trek adaptions

ieightpi ,

Great write up dude.

I’m not the generation your talking to but that’s fine I just wanted to comment on how well spoken your post was. I was being potty trained when Locutus of Borg striked fear into my tiny heart.

SNW can be the best trek in decades. If it can keep up this quality and get atleast 5 seasons, it will be remember very highly and likely more so than prime 90s trek.

Id love Anson Mount to be the new face of Trek. He’s a stellar guy and he does a great Pike.

ieightpi ,

lol makes the context of the post even better

Canon Connections: Strange New Worlds 2x08 - "Under the Cloak of War"

• “Under the Cloak of War”. The flashbacks in this episode are set during the Federation-Klingon War seen during DIS season one, and a large part of that conflict was the new Klingon cloaking devices that T’Kuvma, and then Kol installed on their various ships. Get it? Yeah, you get it....

ieightpi ,

Wow didn’t realize how many times a Klingon ends up stabbing himself in the trek universe. All that aggression must really cause a lot of accidental deaths in the Klingon empire.

ieightpi ,

Up until the final scene, I was loving the episode. I’m still not sure I feel about that ending. But you are probably on to seomthign that there will be a follow up episode next season.

Reddit seems all doom and gloom on the topic but what about Lemmy? And the future of Star Trek?

I saw someone on Reddit wondering why the community was so sure of Trek going dark again with Paramount not doing so well financially. Seeing the response was unfortunate as most people feel that it might be a bad time for Trek. And I guess it makes sense with the Hollywood strikes as well....

ieightpi OP ,

personally im okay with this. honestly wouldn’t mind seeing it on Max or Apple TV

ieightpi OP ,

I really like this take. 🖖

ieightpi ,

Have you given season 3 PIC a chance?

I agree that disco and most of Picard is pretty bad but season 3 was epic.

ieightpi ,

Definitely felt like classic trek this week. Fun episode. I was really hoping we would get a more in depth episode for Ortegas’ character. I did read something last year that she was getting her own episode, so im going to assume this wasn’t it.
