It took over a year of getting all the parts together and is back lit my nanoleaf panels (hence the lines and gaps at the edge). A worthy trade off for the fun effects!
Captain Burnham and the U.S.S. Discovery are sent to retrieve a mysterious 800-year-old Romulan vessel; until the artifact hidden inside is stolen, leading to an epic chase. Meanwhile, Saru is offered the position of a lifetime, and Tilly’s efforts to help pull her into a tangled web of secrecy.
I really don’t like Lower Decks. Before you downvote, I would never tell anyone it’s bad or that they shouldn’t like it. I just really can’t figure out why most people seem to like it so much....
Everyone is entitled to their opinions if they like the show or not. I know you opening up and I don’t want to com off mean in any way. I think its pretty awesome you feel comfortable come out with opinion.
But objectively, the characters are far from cynical. You might look into reevaluating what you consider to be cynical in life. Maybe you used just used the wrong word to describe what you meant.
Damn I really do like the lemmy community more. On other social media aggregators, people are flipping the fuck out.
The more reasonable discourse about this article, on Lemmy is just healthier for everyone’s mental state.
That being said, I tend to agree this is a nothing burger and Leer Decks is likely fine for a few more years. It’s a low budget show and the writing is on point making a broad range of fans happy. I’ve heard this show has actually brought in a lot of new Trek fans too.
T’Ana was great in this episode. Especially because of the fact that we got some weird lore about betazoids being prey lol. When she went feral and started hunting, I absolutely lost it.
So I’m feeling really dumb on my trek lore, but Vulcans have telepathy? I mean I guess their mind meld is a obvious giveaway. I just never considered the two one in the same.
Its really fascinating to see how cyclical our culture is. Ive heard historians say that we are experiencing a very similar time period compared to the late 1800s and the early 1900s.
Lets hope that this trend doesn’t lead to another world war and a depression. But I think what these experts have been trying to convey is its likely we will find ourselves in a new social revolution in the coming years. It happened back then, it will happen again.
I don’t know who greenlit this supposed celebration of TAS, but the writing is cheap, lowbrow and cringey. It’s a total shame that the amazing animation and sound design are paired with this quality of writing. None of the three eps released so far impressed me....
If there was any doubt that Paramount was planning to put the IP back in hibernation with all of the cuts in the streaming industry, this promotion clip should ease those doubts.
But i know people will still come back with doom and gloom. Im just trying to help you feel better.

I’m not the generation your talking to but that’s fine I just wanted to comment on how well spoken your post was. I was being potty trained when Locutus of Borg striked fear into my tiny heart.
SNW can be the best trek in decades. If it can keep up this quality and get atleast 5 seasons, it will be remember very highly and likely more so than prime 90s trek.
Id love Anson Mount to be the new face of Trek. He’s a stellar guy and he does a great Pike.
• “Under the Cloak of War”. The flashbacks in this episode are set during the Federation-Klingon War seen during DIS season one, and a large part of that conflict was the new Klingon cloaking devices that T’Kuvma, and then Kol installed on their various ships. Get it? Yeah, you get it....
Wow didn’t realize how many times a Klingon ends up stabbing himself in the trek universe. All that aggression must really cause a lot of accidental deaths in the Klingon empire.
LoglineCaptain Pike and his crew welcome a Klingon defector aboard the USS Enterprise, but his presence triggers the revelation of some shocking secrets....
Up until the final scene, I was loving the episode. I’m still not sure I feel about that ending. But you are probably on to seomthign that there will be a follow up episode next season.
I saw someone on Reddit wondering why the community was so sure of Trek going dark again with Paramount not doing so well financially. Seeing the response was unfortunate as most people feel that it might be a bad time for Trek. And I guess it makes sense with the Hollywood strikes as well....
Definitely felt like classic trek this week. Fun episode. I was really hoping we would get a more in depth episode for Ortegas’ character. I did read something last year that she was getting her own episode, so im going to assume this wasn’t it.
