In the past week and a half, I've noticed Reddit behaviors starting to try and poison all of the places that people are taking refuge in to get away from the toxicity, myself included. They've started to DDoS Lemmy for a while, which is a Reddit thing to do and what they're notorious of doing whenever they feel they don't like...

The idea that Reddit is staging some nefarious conspiracy to "poison" fediverse spaces ... is losing the whole plot.

OP's straight up writing fanfiction trying to cast a site they just left as villains in some swashbuckling coming-of-age story. It's a nine-hour-old account, and they're already embracing the Us vs Them mentality and trying to sell it with prose.

I don't know how OP managed to pick fights within a couple hours of signing up for their account, but I'd suggest that if they left Reddit for "toxicity" only to immediately find it here too ... maybe they're carrying it around with them?

I registered Democrat after decades of being registered Independent specifically to vote for Bernie in the primaries. I feel he was shafted by the DNC both times, just ever so slightly more subtly the second time.

But I can’t fault those who do.

Nor will I, but if your left leaning values cause you to cast a vote that's only handing power to folks far, far to the right of Biden/Harris based on Biden/Harris not being left enough for you, don't ask me to pretend that's not exceptionally self defeating.

Remember when Al Franken resigned because someone said they were bother by his actions decades ago? Remember how there were bipartisan investigations into Benghazi and Hillary emails? Or when Bill Clinton let an independent special prosecutor attempt to find evidence of corruption?

How about how Lindsey Graham said that he would never support confirming a supreme court justice before a presidential election and then did that? Or how many of Trump’s administration have went to jail?

This “both sides are just as bad” number doesn’t work when one side is activity lieing, curtailing freedoms and attempting literal coups, while the other side has obeyed due process and law the overwhelming majority of the time.

Fact: there are double the number of people in the country after than there were before.

It's absolutely specious, because you're somehow suggesting those policies failed because the absolute number of individuals went up, disregarding the fact that had those policies not been in place, the number would've been double what it is.

And I said at best, because it's far more likely you're just trolling. But, giving you the benefit of the doubt, let's work through this.

If a family in poverty that's 2 people, has 3 children, that's now 5 people.

If this is the only family that exists, 100% of people are in poverty. If one of those children winds up getting out of poverty, you've gone from 2 people in poverty, to 4 people in poverty. However, you've gone from 100% poverty to 80% poverty.

And you're saying that's a failure.

I think most everyone wants and accepts the needs for law and order. That being said - I think it's fair to have skepticism for those shouting for law and order solely to protect their status-quo -> a system rigged to benefit the few and of privilege.

The AMA was the real line in the sand where he 'answered' about 6 questions but mainly took the opportunity to slag off the Apollo Dev.

That was where it was clear he had no interest in explaining the changes, talking people round but this was just his decision now please fuck off.
