All of the enthusiasm in the world doesn’t matter if you are only 28% of the electorate.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression have entered the chat.

And in the back, Thomas and Alito wear matching grins and wait for the case to hit the docket.

…can’t believe that I haven’t made this mental connection yet, but this was how the KKK came about: following a disastrous attempt at gaining power by violence from the duly elected by an increasingly radical segment, the losing party engages in acts of terrorism to try to bring the lesser-thans back into line by fear.

Excellent point, and thanks for illustrating the historical precedent. Interestingly enough, it was Superman who eventually broke the Klan, and it looks like he's been gearing up to do again.

Here's hoping the next issue will have him fighting MAGATs.

Republicans try to stop military’s electrification with mind-bogglingly dumb proposals ( electrek.co )

Several Republican representatives have proposed amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act to try to stop the Pentagon’s electrification. The proposals sound so mind-bogglingly dumb that they look like they were written by 19th-century Luddites or the fossil fuel industry itself....

No need to feel dumb, be happy you're one of today's lucky 10,000! ;)

Agreed. Also, electric vehicles are also much simpler mechanically speaking. They have fewer moving parts that can break relative to a modern gas engine. In-wheel electric motors wouldn't need a drive train, and would mean more room for other military stuff in vehicles.

Ex-FBI official says GOP is telling agents: 'If you investigate our party, you are going to pay the price' ( www.rawstory.com )

Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi wasn't happy after watching Republicans grill FBI director Christopher Wray in the House Wednesday. While Democrats questioned Wray for ignoring warnings about Jan. 6, Republicans sought answers to a slew of conspiracy theories and culture war grievances that go a...

Hatemongers like you are always so whiny and uneducated... talking about 'returning to tradition' until they actually learn about the traditions, then it's all 'not like that'.

Turns out many traditional cultures recognized a variety of trans and nonbinary genders, it's actually the bigotry that's new.

Florida suffers consequences of DeSantis political games with public health ( www.msnbc.com )

Alex Wagner shares exclusive NBC News reporting on the resignation of two key Florida state health officials who have yet to be replaced as the state is facing the first instances of native malaria transmission in decades and DeSantis has installed a scientifically dubious state surgeon general in a bid to curry favor with the...

I think any public forum on the internet without some degree of limitation devolves into idiocy and hatred.

Every community with “zero censorship” rapidly turns into nazi-infested shithole.

Pretty much.

Yeah. No "censorship" typically just tells hate mongers that they're free to be hateful with zero consequences.

Most people expect gradual change when many things in life are more like punctuated equilibrium.

Stable state despite gradual change in underlying conditions.

Then rapid change to new stable state.

Pons_Aelius ,

Sorry to do that, but I believe the world makes a lot more sense when viewed through the lens of punctuated equilibrium. It does not make things better, just makes the chaos more understandable.

The dot com bubble.

The housing bubble.

Basically every economic bubble all the way back to tulip mania.

The Arab Spring.

The changes in the USA post 9/11.

And most disturbing of all, the recent rapid swing of pretty much all environmental indicators into uncharted territory. Our biosphere may be heading into a phase of rapid change.

With all the migration caused by the downfall of reddit/twitter i feel this Essay brings a nice insight to the table, long but worthy read. ( catvalente.substack.com )

the feeling of dredd i’ve had (and i bet many are with me) since reddit announced the changes to the API and elon bought twitter, has been perfectly represented in this essay. Once again we migrate from a place where we built a community, because a bunch of greedy assholes can’t fathom a world where people embrace human...

The right/bigots is always talking about the gay agenda. We don't have one. We just want to live our lives. Its the right who has an agenda. They worked hard to rig the court and are now making up lies to take to the court so the LGBTQ rights can be taken away. They want us back in the closet. And it's not just the LGBTQ community that they are looking to strip rights from. Non-christians, women, minorities, and workers to name a few.

Stop voting for Repulicans.

keeb420 ,

the only ones shoving any agenda down anyone elses throats are the gop.

admiralteal ,

There is and only ever has been a straight agenda.

No one tries to force people to be gay. But there's a concerted effort of trying to force people and society to be more straight.
