The video above is a long essay on the experiences and research the guy in the video has put into understanding the modern dating situation men have to deal with when it comes to dealing with conflicting ideals on what a proper approach looks like all the way to how consent works in the modern dating world but from a man's POV. I'm curious about the guys in this community, does what he describe in the video mirror your experience? even if it doesn't I'd be curious to hear why and how.
I like this idea of promoting media that isn't actively trying to tear us down or perpetuate caricatures of us. Shout out to the Castlevania series on netflix. A series that has deep and complex male characters of all types who evolve and go through their own journeys throughout the series.
Adding on to this, it's also weird to me to never hear class or race acknowledged in their one dimensional view of history as something that solely benefited men at all times. Like are they gonna seriously argue the black men who were literally hunted down and tortured for sport in American history were still somehow above the white women sitting comfortable at the sides?
It seems that the community once concentrated at LWMA is now fractured. Some are here, some stayed and I suspect that some will follow thetinmen in his boycott....
Outreach and exposure are things I worry about a lot in terms of having this community on lemmy. Granted it doesn't have to deal with the whims of random admins doing god knows what to the policies, mod permissions and api prices but the one thing I'll give to reddit was the cross exposure across subreddits was unparalleled, it was a simple autocomplete /r/InsertSubredditNameHere and that ease of click through was a major factor in getting the word out to people who had similar outlooks to LWMA but may not have known to look for that kind of phrasing or name.
In my ideal future, I hope this community can one day become it's own instance with it's own funding (patreon maybe) so as to make a self autonomous space for us to discuss media, research, personal issues and where we can come together.

From what I saw in the last 2 weeks it was the main mod here /u/a-man-from-earth who made a case for everybody to come over to kbin and then he left the mod team of his own accord while still reposting some content from here onto leftwingmaleadvocates. It was some other mods who were left in charge and then closed the subreddit so laying the blame for the closure of the subreddit at the feet of a-man-from-earth seems misguided to me since he literally can't since he left the mod team before the closure of the subreddit.
I just stepped down as moderator from all five of the subreddits I used to moderate over on Reddit. I just can't ethically justify continued activity on Reddit, and especially free volunteer labour for an openly greedy company that is engaged in scummy behaviour, forcing mods to open protesting communities or be demoted....
The video above is a collaboration between Aba and Preach who mostly do reaction videos to cultural issues and Shan Boody who delves into discussions about relationships and sex. The video above focuses on the weird double bind men are forced into by the wider culture and people in their lives with zero concern or forethought...

Tired of the anti-male messages in entertainment? Let’s make a list of recent pro-male movies, shows, etc. ( kbin.social )
I’ll start us off with:...
Men do not seem like they are proud to be men, and this is detrimental to their mental health. We need to celebrate men instead of demonizing them. ( kbin.social )
