SteveTech ,

Also a solution: Use Wayland, it'll probably break other things, and Nvidia support is only just getting there; but it's multi monitor support is amazing, so it should fix that issue. So maybe it's worth a try?

SteveTech ,

I’m still in Plasma 5 so I’m probably completely wrong, but have you set the QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS env var, like on the arch wiki?

I use QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=1.5 on my laptop for 150% scaling, which also doesn’t seem to automatically scale with KDE’s settings.

SteveTech ,

I’ve got some scripts that run on unlock and I’m also wondering:

Is there another place to do this now?

SteveTech , (edited )

What do these artifacts look like? I’ve got lines appearing on my AMD laptop with fractional scaling enabled. But I’m pretty sure that my issue will be fixed in Plasma 6.

Edit: Actually for my issue I just increased my VRAM allocation to 4GB and it seems fine.

SteveTech ,

Yeah that’s not normal, is there anything appearing in dmesg? Probably do dmesg | grep -i amdgpu to filter out the other stuff.

Otherwise maybe try a different desktop environment and create a bug report if it is KDE specific, or create one anyway and someone smarter than me should be able to work it out.

SteveTech ,

Have you set any auxiliary parameters? I think there a section for the SMB service, and one in each of the shares.

I had one become invalid, which would make truenas not save settings.

SteveTech ,

Yeah mine has a text field that says ‘Auxiliary Parameters’ inside the ‘Advanced Settings’

System Settings > Services > SMB (/ui/services/smb):

I am slightly out of date with 22.12.3 though, so maybe they removed it?

I see you’ve solved it anyway though.

Oh, I got shadow banned from Reddit for helping someone run a large language model on their GPU.

Like I just assumed the user stopped caring until I looked at the post in incognito and my last comment just wasn’t there, yet it appears when I log in

So with the third party apps thing, that was the last straw for me.
