Would You Try New Pastimes If Star Trek Level Medical Care Was Available?

Star Trek’s level of medical care is far more advanced than today’s. As Beckett says in LD, “Doc will wave a light over it.” Yet, in Star Trek people aren’t shown doing hobbies and pastimes that are much different from what’s done now. Still, I wonder about differences in a society where people know they won’t be...

In an early episode of the Orville, Gordon and Isaac get into a prank war which culminates in Isaac removing Gordon’s leg. This is treated as going a little bit too far but ultimately harmless and funny.

In Star Trek, they tend to prefer to mitigate risks protectively with things like anti-grav harnesses and holodeck safeties, except for exceptionally reckless individuals like James T. Kirk and Jason Vigo.

The Union’s medical technology is notably more advanced than the Federation’s, yes. Dr. Finn would have Pike up and walking in an afternoon.

You’ve got SG-1 but not Stargate Atlantis, so add that in, it’s just about as good as SG-1. (not Stargate Universe, though, that one’s bad.)

I thought Andor was the best Star Wars thing ever made period but found Mandalorian kinda boring and dropped it after a few episodes.

The optimal way to watch Stargate, and the way it originally aired, is alternating episodes of SG-1 and Atlantis starting with the former’s season 8 and the latter’s season 1.

Universe had a drastic tone and characterization change from the other Stargate shows, it’s much more tonally similar to Battlestar Galactica than Stargate. SG-1 and Atlantis are about competent professionals who enjoy each others’ company, while Universe is about a bunch of petulant children who hate and are constantly scheming against each other.

No, I don’t like BSG either.

I made it about halfway through season 2 and found myself rooting for the Cylons to kill every named character including the Cylon ones.

I’m still salty about the Shuttle in lunar orbit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Transportation_System?useskin=vector#/media/File:Space_Shuttle,_Nuclear_Shuttle,_and_Space_Tug.jpg
