exscape , to Linux in How can I run something that needs sudo at every login without having to do so manually?
@exscape@kbin.social avatar

You can make sudo password-less for a single command (including using specific arguments) though, so even if using sudo were the only solution, it wouldn't be that bad. For example, I have a sudoers entry that allows my user to decrypt my ZFS pool by executing a root-owned script (with permissions 700), but everything else requires a password.

Yep, that was beyond ridiculous IMO. Not sure how they felt it made enough sense to turn into a big season-long thing, affecting the entire future timeline of Star Trek.

Though I think Species 10-C (season 4) was an awesome episode that is rather underrated.

That's not far from reality. Quantum computers work with qubits.

@exscape@kbin.social avatar

I'm not sure how it's madness. An episode can be bad in itself and not contribute anything of value to the greater story arc, in which case I don't see why it's wrong to see it as bad.

TNG was great, and the best episodes are incredible, but most episodes were fairly mediocre. I feel SNW's average is higher, and it's probably in part for having LESS than half the number of episodes per season.

I think they'd be fine with 12, maybe even 14, but beyond that I don't they could keep it as great as it's been.

It does move the plot forward in many relationships though, worth watching for that reason alone.
I also mostly cringe at the musical parts, but overall I don't regret watching it.

The third paragraph is wacky on Kbin, but probably because the Markdown syntax isn't 100% compatible with Lemmy.

It looks exactly the same when I copy and paste it:

EpisodeStardate“The Broken Circle”2369.2“Ad Astra per Aspera”2393.8”Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”1581.2• The USS Cayuga previously appeared in “A Quality of Mercy”.

I'm guessing that's a table, which Kbin doesn't realize is a thing.

The first doesn't work, it suggests the dog wants "eyes" to give it its food. I think #2 is the best.

Hm, considering your instance name, are you reading this on Mastodon? I've not gotten the hang of how federation with Mastodon works, but I'm reading/writing this on Kbin, and the post is on Lemmy, in the discussion thread for the latest episode, where spoilers for that episode are assumed to exist without warning.
In any case I apologize if you were spoiled by my post, but I'm not sure how to improve things in the future TBH.

how can a society or any sort of structure be maintained if you can’t remember anything? The whole premise felt a bit off.

The rulers in the palace could remember, though (because of the shielding provided by some metal). And the workers/slaves remembered enough to perform their tasks.

Why would anyone downvote for that reason though? That reason is why I upvoted. I'm firmly left-wing but absolutely not far enough that I can support their BS views.
