Is this an argument we should be having? Sure all right. Is this where we should be having it? Probably not. It's a huge non sequitur to bring that up within the context of child labor, and at best, makes you look "out of touch"
If the system is so fucked that it'd "take a generation to work out", maybe the system isn't worth saving in the first place. We're talking social media websites here, not something like hospitals or schools that are required for a functioning society.
100% unironic message I received from a family member 😑 (changed some words to keep it anonymous, make it legible, and protect the innocent)
"Trump is gonna own you libs this time, just you wait! Our 4D chess GOD has sat on this report for 3 years. He could have released it right after the election, but you fools just don't see the whole board like he does! This is the perfect time for it so he can watch you dummies seethe in rage and take back the country! I'm so happy to be one of the God Emperor's Chosen! I've donated all I can to his fund, and you should too!"
I've actually asked him that once. The election was obviously stolen from him, but in the end Trump CHOSE to leave to go stop the pizzagate guys (or some other shit, I stopped listening around then)
I appreciate the skepticism, but remember, until very recently this was their congressman. These people chose a literal, actual, real white nationalist to represent them, so imagine how they act in private
I like that Costco does this, but this is a shit article with a clickbait headline. The "local businesses" was 1 guy at a gas station that said "I can't pay that". The vast majority of businesses here give at the very least a yearly cost of living raise. Most give more the longer you are with a company. Been working 20 years and my own raises have outpaced inflation almost every time.
The flip side of that coin though is that wages start ridiculously low. Regardless of the position or responsibility, a starting salary will be about 200k ~ 250k yen ($1700 usd) a month.
In the short term, yes. And in the context of them trying for an IPO, that's probably what they want. But it absolutely will kill the site in the end because no one actually wants to hang out in an ad riddled wasteland.
That's actually an excellent point, but it has the chance to backfire spectacularly if they can't IPO or come up with a more higher earning replacement before the end of the next fiscal year. So I totally expect them to fuck it up
This is exactly what they're gonna do. I'd love to see them implement something like what /r/politicalhumor did and set up automod to react to user comments. So for example, if anyone says "the is offensive" it deletes the post and bans the user
