A few years back we were traveling across the U.S. and as we passed through Indiana noticed a sign that said mangos 3 for a dollar. Wife and that that sounded good so we stopped at the farm stand. Low and behold what they called mangos were green bell peppers. Talk about disappointment.

Last year I had a crohns attack and they used cyclosporine to control it. Which is an immune system suppressor. It worked but required me to avoid being around people and wearing a mask when going anywhere.

Maybe it's the part of Florida I live in. I heard quite a few comments about my wearing of a mask.

In April 2022, the Heritage Foundation introduced 'Project 2025' with the hope of guiding America toward authoritarianism. Now, with Donald Trump at the top of the Republican ticket, that threat has only grown more dire. But what exactly are the plans of Project 2025, and how can we fight against this right-wing movement? A Q&A with Thomas Zimmer, Professor of 20th-century U.S. and international history at Georgetown University, sheds light on this dangerous project. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/project-2025-thomas-zimmer-trump

@georgetakei But but but this can't be!! I keep reading where younger folk on here equate them as the same or Biden even worse. Wonder if trump does win big how they will feel when they try to protest as he turns their world upside down. And discover the new old guy has plans to treat protest differently than the old old guy.

Members of the GOP are no strangers to delusion and lies. The latest example (and definitely not the last) is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who recently gained attention for shooting her puppy and writing about it. According to Noem, though, this is business as usual for farmers. However, real farmers say otherwise. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/noem-farm-life-puppy-excuse

My parents owned 48 acres down in the Redlands above Homestead. We grew okra. I learned to hate okra, spent many a day weeding rows and working with the folks who came up from Florida City to pick.

We had a German Sheperd named Debon. Unfortunately Debon went into a neighbor's fields and killed a calf as the mother was delivering it. Since it was a first time we covered the loss..

Unfortunately Debon got loose a few weeks later and went into the neighbors fields again and killed one calf and injured another to the point it had to be put down.

This time the neighbor got the sheriff involved and we had a choice. Find somewhere where Debon could live or put him down.

So Debon got to be a city dog living in a small fenced backyard up in Sarasota where my Aunt and Uncle lived.

He was one of many animals we acquired when people dumped them out in the sticks. We kept many cats around but only one dog at a time. Others went to the pound.

@georgetakei When I was little my dad said I looked just like he and his Dad did at that age.I remember looking at grandpa with his wrinkled weathered face and said you mean I will look like that someday?

Looking in the mirror now and it's

"Hello Grandpa"

I was tempted to do that many many years ago when my daughter was 13. We asked her what she wanted written on the cake for her party and she said "whatever" Heard that and ""I don't care" many times. Wonder how she will react when her daughter starts the eyerolling and curt comments. Was such a bonding experience.

I finally regained more than one brain cell when she was in her 20's.

@georgetakei I have been using one recently. Darn things are tricky to get used to. Hope she is able to leave it leaning against a wall soon.
