I’ve been trying different searches but everything I find just says “sunlight”. Since sunlight consists of multiple parts such as UV, Infrared and the normal visible spectrum, I’m curious which part is actually responsible for photosynthesis to occur? On that note, depending on what part of the light, would it still grow...
Plants use visible light for photosynthesis. Visible light ranges from low blue to far-red light and is described as the wavelengths between 380 nm and 750 nm. The region between 400 nm and 700 nm is what plants primarily use to drive photosynthesis and is typically referred to as Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR). Plant biologists quantify PAR using the number of photons in the 400-700 nm range received by a surface for a specified amount of time, or the Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD) in the units μmol/s.
During photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) from the air and soil. Within the plant cell, the water is oxidized, meaning it loses electrons, while the carbon dioxide is reduced, meaning it gains electrons. This transforms the water into oxygen and the carbon dioxide into glucose. The plant then releases the oxygen back into the air, and stores energy within the glucose molecules.
I’m bad at regurgitating information that I’ve only quasi understood from afar, but I will tell you the “Chris the Brain” on YouTube has some fantastic videos about things like this. I know he’s covered it in a few videos. They are long, but he’s SUCH a good teacher. That man is an absolute fucking genius, mark my words.
You’re in for SUCH a wild ride!! I’m so excited for you. He’s opened my mind SO MUCH, and the theory he’s working on is going to be revolutionary I suspect.
PBS space time, as user friendly as it is, constantly misrepresents the nature of reality for the convenience of explanation, just as a grain of salt. Not saying it’s a bad channel, just saying it’s supposed to be entry level.
I picked up a low pressure sodium lamp and am working on a Halloween demonstration. I’m hoping to make a display that appears one way under normal light, but looks totally different under the monochromatic 589nm sodium vapor light....
No idea. I get legit panic attacks everything I look at rental prices and I need to move asap. Nothing under $2k/mo. seems to even be worth looking at. Or it’s a scam.
THATS TWENTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR
Also most places require (income) => (rent * ), so I hope you make at least $72,000 a year if you want a place to live.
He is NOT a master liar. He’s not even good at it in the slightest. The differenc eis that his base doesn’t care. They knows a lie and what isn’t. It’s a big game of “what can we get away with” becuase they need validation so fucking bad at this point.
In the past week and a half, I've noticed Reddit behaviors starting to try and poison all of the places that people are taking refuge in to get away from the toxicity, myself included. They've started to DDoS Lemmy for a while, which is a Reddit thing to do and what they're notorious of doing whenever they feel they don't like...
… you dont need to be a stalker to recognize the connection between both the usernames and thee expressed issues posted about by both accounts…
But now that we are on the subject, seems you are adding enough negativity of your own to Lemmy that others started talking note of you. That doesn’t sit well with your expressed point of view on all this. Maybe consider that.
here we go with you making up your own scenarios so you can justify yourself within them. neat trick.
Stalking is already a defined word.
pursue or approach stealthily.
harass or persecute (someone) with unwanted and obsessive attention.
Pointing out similarities between two accounts is neither harassment nor persecution, and you only find it “unwanted” because its inconvenient for your case and shows how childish you are. You posted hoping for an attaboy and didn’t get one, so you waited and rewrote your gripes with a new user account and a new spin, hoping for some attention. Its super clear to everyone else.
Asking for accountability isn’t unique to politicians and their constituents, especially when the subject matter of your post is that you want this to be a better place. while you drag it down further.
i’d like to see where I was uncivil to you in the slightest.
disagreement is not inherently uncivil. I think you are so used to the echo chamber on reddit that you’ve found yourself in a place where people actually call you out on your obvious bullshit, and you can not handle it.
i’m new to lemmy, and am using the old.lemmy.world interface, and see no options for blocking users. Ill check another instance I suppose. Thanks for the feedback
From the feedback I’ve been getting, It seems that its either buried awkwardly in settings somewhere, or the Lemmy instance I’m using (old.lemmy.world) doesn’t currently support it.
impartial observer: Kbinite sounds like a Kpop fan who plays fortnite. Kbinaut sounds like someone who explorers the depths of the internet for amusement.
Reddit is a LOT of bots now. The bots were trained on existing bots, and trolls. Reddit will never change as a direct result of this heritage of awfulness.
Hey I just want to say most of us humans care about most other humans even if we’ve had disagreements currently or in the past. You and I certainly haven’t gotten along so far but I still care about you and hope that you feel cared about.
What part of sunlight causes algae to grow?

Does Higgs exist in nature or is it merely artificially synthesized particle?
In nuclear chemistry elements beyond Plutonium do not occur in nature and are synthesized artificially. Is it a similar case for Higgs boson too?...
Is there an easy way to generate a list of CMYK color values that will appear identical to the human eye under 589nm light?
