stoy OP , to Photography in Missile boat R142 Ystad in the Stockholm archipelago

Me and my dad took a trip with the torpedo boat T121 Spica this summer, the outing was coordinated with R142 Ystad.

These are ships from the cold war being run and maintained by volenteers and while they are not running them at full speed to save the engines and fuel, we did run at about 30 knots.

They only use GPS as a fallback navigation system, and mainly use radar and charts.

They also use period communications equipment, and try to be as authentic as possible.

During the trip passengers got full access to the ship, including the bridge, CIC, even the stern, but you needed ear defenders, the turbines was increadibly loud, I never went back there despite my excellent ear defenders.

I think people have given the requested advice, so I’m just going to say unless you know the age of the soffits, be a little bit wary as there may be asbestos fibre board behind the PVC outer, shouldn’t matter unless disturbed, but just be aware

The first issue of The Scorpius Run isn’t doing much to grab me. The premise of the Enterprise crew being forced to compete in a race is interesting enough, but for whatever reason the idea that the Enterprise itself is going to be in the race just seems silly. Like a cruise ship race. All the other ships were of similar size; do they have comparable crew compliments?

Anyways, writing is fine, but the art seems a little stiff. I don’t really have any thoughts on the issue beyond that.

Star Trek is a fun read, but ultimately seems like it’s spinning its wheels, as very little story progress is made here. There are a lot of good character interactions – the highlight of which is once again Lore and Data, though Doctor Crusher and Sela also have a cool moment only slightly diminished by the fact that Sela still seems shoehorned into the book – but the main attraction for Day of Blood is Sisko, Worf, and Emperor Kahless, and they’re pretty much no where in the book.

Nit picks: The likeness for Tom Paris has always been off in this book, and never more so than in this issue. It’s like the artist heard of the Nick Locarno issue and is worried he’s going to have to pay royalties if Paris looks too much like Robert Duncan McNeil. Also, Ro has been done dirty ever since she showed up in Defiant #1, and this issue is no exception.

Compliment sandwich! I really like the interpretation of the Kobayashi Maru that Lily Sato gives.

I find it almost bizarre if DS9 isn’t someone’s favourite, unless a) they haven’t watched it, or b) they’re really against grey and murky morality (which a lot of TOS fans apparently are).

That said, I also think Picard S03 was unbelievably horrible. There’s fan service and there’s absolutely mindless trash like this. When I hear about reliving past glories of TNG, I’m thinking episodes like Tapestry or The Inner Light and not something Genesis-level of contrivance.

SNW rehashes everything from older shows, but at least isn’t dumbed down too much.

Very interesting. I wonder to what extend fans’ ages alter the ratings?

In Doctor Who fandom, whenever the question “Who is your favourite Doctor?” pops up, the majority tend to say the current one. It also seems to be that this is responded to by younger fans/audiences. I wonder if it’s the same with Trek. Because of my age, I’ll ALWAYS prefer classic DW to recent stuff. There’s an element of nostalgia.

My first Trek was TOS and it’s what I think of AS Trek primarily. I wasn’t into TNG at all (because of my age and I’d moved away from stuff like this for a time). DS9 and, particularly, Voyager would rate mire highly as they were on when I was watching TV in the late 90s. I like SNW because it echoes TOS. While I’ll watch other Trek, it doesn’t have the same impact on me.
