ELI5 resources for publishing self hosted services ( kbin.social )

So, couple years ago i started to learn about tech, programming and self hosting services thanks to redditors ( not reddit the evil corp ), and found lots of communities where they pointed me to good resources but then ended up allocating more time to learning programming to switch career into that field and finally got it....

For those in the know about privacy laws and the such. What is a proper response to reddit's claim that they cannot remove all the information associated to an account without first the user removing all of their posts? ( kbin.social )

As the title says, Reddit replied to my GDPR request to delete all my data saying I had to do it first, which I suspect is in violation of GDPR law....

How to deal with feed duplicates? ( kbin.social )

I'm new to Kbin. Since the platform is under development, I am curious if there has been any discussion around feed duplicates? Most of us subscribe to multiple things, some of which have some overlap. Just this morning I found an item that fit both in worldnews and news, so I posted in both. But it got me thinking about my /sub...

What’s with social media companies trying to destroy themselves recently? ( kbin.social )

It’s honestly really sad what’s been happening recently. Reddit with the API pricing on 3rd party apps, Discord with the new username change, Twitter with the rate limits, and Twitch with their new advertising rules (although that has been reverted because of backlash). Why does it seem like every company is collectively on...

What was the subreddit that represented to you the best example of downspiral of quality? To me it was /r/dataisbeautiful ( kbin.social )

At first it was all about presenting data in an original looking way. In the end it was about pushing political ideas in your throat using a plain bar graph. It was not about sharing something interesting you found but about taking advantage of a captive audience.

I got a lemmy account and a kbin account while deciding what i like best. Since I'm new to this i'm having trouble searching and "subscribing" lemmy communities while on kbin and viceversa. Can someone please help me with this issue? ( kbin.social )

Second time doing this because I made a "post" the first time, I feel kinda lost to be honest.

All mods of /r/self and /r/shittylifeprotips were removed and suspended for 7 days without any warning first. ( kbin.social )

We toggled to 18+ and sort of let nature take its course by only enforcing TOS. I say "we" but in reality I was the only active mod on either sub, so I do feel bad for getting awkwardtheturtle banned by association (lol). After the fact got the "It’s not ok to show people NSFW content when they don’t want to see it....

Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively? ( kbin.social )

I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.

I hate the reddit mod queue, worst invention ever! are they a thing here? ( kbin.social )

my killer post in modcoord, called How come r/fuckreddit is allowed to stay private while everyone else has to reopen, do the rules not apply to everyone?, is currently dying in the god damn mod queue where nobody can see it and I don't think they'll ever unlock it, because they never do....

So long and thanks for all the karma. ( kbin.social )

All 6000-ish of it lol. I'd been registered user for close on five years and I only made use of it for a couple more before that. But boy did Reddit help me out in a variety of ways small and big. And helped me waste time. Some would say too much time. Some would be right....
