Defund the police!

Sunforged , to Seattle in New Seattle City Council president proposes police pay raises, business tax breaks

And the libs cheered.

surewhynotlem ,

Not in this thread it seems

Sunforged ,

They sure did when Kshama’s district got gerrymandered to shit. Now all we are left with are these liberals posing as progressives with all the wonderful policy that goes with it.

surewhynotlem ,

Ah sorry. Forgot I was on Lemmy, where people actually understand the difference between lib and left. You’re right, the pro capitalist libs are probably good with this.

wizenheimer , to Seattle in Greenwood neighbors say city is taking no action over complaints about encampment

There’s a massive unused fenced up plot of land right behind them. Just open the fence and let them in there. Boom, clear sidewalks

Watching KOMO is also dangerous for mental health.

"Seattle is dying!!! Seattle is dying!!! ". Uh huh.

Pistcow , to Seattle in KOMO 4 legend Steve Pool passes away after battle with illness

Awesome guy. Pisses me off that he had to work for Sinclair during all that bullshit.

Is 70 early for early onset? I mean, he was 66 when he retired.

kinther OP ,
@kinther@lemmy.world avatar

It really depends on the genetics, diet, and environment of the person. It sounds early to me, but I’ve also heard of people younger developing early signs.

Pistcow ,

I always thought the mark was between 30-40 but before 65 is considered early. That used to be a full life there but it’s hardly retirement age now.

QubaXR , to Seattle in Washington's Secretary of State calls out 'domestic terrorists' who disrupted elections
@QubaXR@lemmy.world avatar

Curious. Historically it was the right that would work their asses off to disrupt, limit and suppress voting. Does not check out that leftists or centrists would want to stop the count for "giving power the right’. Feels like a provocation, or at the very least work of some seriously disturbed people (which is the case no matter your alignment of you threaten others to get yours)

kersploosh ,
@kersploosh@sh.itjust.works avatar

The declaration “Stop giving power to the right” is especially weird considering that four of the five counties involved (Skagit, Snohomish, King, Pierce) are Democrat strongholds. They aren’t giving power to the political right.

cmbabul , (edited )

Didn’t the Georgia Secretary of State receive a fentanyl envelope too? The same SoS that Trump had his perfect phone call with?

kinther OP , to Seattle in Greenwood neighbors say city is taking no action over complaints about encampment

I regularly pass by this encampment. It’s grown recently and there is more garbage than before. It does feel somewhat unsafe to walk by it, so I often go completely around it.

specseaweed , to Seattle in PCC Community Markets to close downtown Seattle location in January

Bummer. We would load up on hot bar when we did conventions.

SirToxicAvenger , to Seattle in PCC Community Markets to close downtown Seattle location in January

unsurprising really. their deli selection is nice but I’m only downtown 2 days a week & honestly never consider going there, even though it’s just a few blocks away.

cleanandsunny , to Seattle in PCC Community Markets to close downtown Seattle location in January

On the one hand, downtown is kind of still a grocery desert since IGA and HMart are still gone. So it sucks that PCC is leaving.

On the other hand, if they were relying on worker foot traffic paying for their overpriced hot bar to turn a profit, that was always a losing proposition. Not sure why they went through with opening when downtown office space vacancies were still at ~30%.

Kinda understandable given its location downtown. It always seemed pretty empty.

Blamemeta , to Seattle in Hundreds rally, march through downtown Seattle as Israel-Hamas war continues

Man, left wingers are bizzare. Why on Earth are they siding with Hamas? I could understand no siding with anyone, condemning both sides, but Hamas massacred over a thousand people. And thats after they execute queer people and oppress women.

Dressedlikeapenguin ,

In this article, the interviewed person explicitly denounced Hamas. It might not be the case in other places, but there is room to support the victims on both sides, and denounce the both governments that lead to this terrible situation. Hamas was elected, but then fixed it so they can’t be removed from power. Israeli officials, specifically Bibi, benefited from having Hamas in power to motivate by fear. Hamas has support from Iran because it’s easier to antagonizing Israel through Hamas. Egypt doesn’t want Hamas, they won’t even open their boarders. There are no good guys here. Israel denied a Palestine state from the beginning. Israeli settlers near Gaza are conducting pogroms, clearing out entire villages, murdering Palestinians. aljazeera.com/…/israeli-lawmaker-blames-pogroms-a…
