@rbreich
There is not reason to not cut down meat consumption by 80%.
In fact there are very good ones. 1 unit of measure of meat takes 10 times the ressources to produce compared to 1 unit of fruits or vegetables. Livestock is a major producer of methane (powerful greenhouse gas - 17x that of CO2). Yes they fart. Land requirements are immense, crowding out wildlife
Then let us hope that consumers, if not driven by their conscience, may be driven by their wallets toward more ethical and sustainable plant-based diets.
@rbreich just for some context about meat companies. I live in a rural Tennessee county not too far from a high tech hub. Last year some guy who doesn't live here bought 20 acres and contracted with Tyson on a chicken factory farm. It's ruined our neighborhood, it smells horrific, children have respiratory problems, and our property values have been destroyed. I'm now a vegan because I don't want to contribute to the destruction of other neighborhoods. Modern meat production ruins lives.
