@arstechnica and the closed captioning (or subtitles as we call them) are terrible. The words appear appear about 3 seconds before they are spoken.

@arstechnica Why do people still buy from Amazon? They are universally understood to be monsters. I haven't given them a penny since 2004.

@arstechnica Amazon has more money and infrastructure than anyone else and they still have one of the worst streaming services in existence. How is Tubi beating you so bad at this.?

@arstechnica @lisamelton Browsing amazon video feels like one step up from going through your buddy's ftp server of torrented movies.

@arstechnica Wait, you're telling me that a couple of LLMs and a hundred underpaid Amazon Turk kids weren't enough to get this right? I'm shocked.

@arstechnica the subtitles in "Portuguese" are so low quality and most actually "Brazilian Portuguese" (something that doesn't exist, bar some regional word differences and different word's spelling stemming from the Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement of 1990) that I'm forced to forget about subtitles or to have them set to English (with low quality, garbled and clearly AI-processed, in the mix).

Would someone please explain to me why The Wire isn't closed captioned?
It's barely comprehensible as is.

@arstechnica Sounds like one more behind the scenes AI screwup, no?

Wait until they find out about Amazon’s online marketplace.
