How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

  1. Break up corporate monopolies

  2. Continue building union power

  3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

Unrigging the system is little more than tinkering at edges. Forcing monopolies to relinquish control demands the kind of systematic change most don’t have the stomach for. The vicious levels of social, economic, and cultural violence used to maintain dominance needs to be matched, with blood, because you can’t negotiate with psychopaths.

@rbreich What about monopsonies? Arguably those are worse. What Amazon is able to do to sellers, indies and publishers, what gig food apps can do to restaurants and similar situations destroy the ability for anyone to chase the American dream.

All the traditional pathways out of generational poverty have been devoured.

Why doesn't anyone in the USA understand the concept of codetermination, where half the members of corporate boards of directors are workers, the other half from investors?

Why have you never said anything about it?

I sincerely doubt you read these comments - much less respond to them. It's discouraging.

I couldn’t agree more. This would change the face of America in a very positive way for us all. More than almost anything else I would think.

@rbreich Yeah I wish people would recognize as the Labor of Operating Systems.

If we would collectively act, to help each other out by switching to Linux, and stop being beholden to (Ads in your Start Menu) Big Tech, and do the work to take back the means of computation, we'd have a chance against stupid corporate dystopia.

Many companies similarily beholden to big tech need to be broken up, but change starts at your home directory.

I know. I know. I'm the crazy one. right? smh

I heard on an interview with someone (I forget who sorry) that described corporate America as having evolved over the last decade or so into "Legalized Organized Crime".
