@rbreich Trump also wants to be King for its own sake. He cannot take a lesser position now not even with the promise of freedom. It is either the highest office or none at all, andh e wants to turn that office into a dictatorship.

Those are all selling points to his target audience, not weaknesses. Each time he succeeds, it tells them that he is above the limitations everyone else has to abide by.
