It's always so satisfying to have someone close to an asshole completely deny their shitty beliefs. Being a woman in comedy back in the Seinfeld days was often horrifically difficult and filled with casual abuse; if anyone understands how much better things are now it'll be Julia.
@georgetakei define "political correctness". I'm pretty sure it's not a black and white thing that can just be defined as being "good" or "bad". Political Correctness operates on a broad spectrum - and there are problematic aspects on that spectrum of political correctness.
Those of us who were not born into fabulous wealth and privilege tend to be, skeptical to say the least, of those were when they start waxing philosophical about the dangers of wealth and power being concentrated in the hands of an elite few.
Also, her facile defense of “political correctness” frames the problem as one of overly-sensitive viewers.
The actual problem is assholes who make the vulnerable and marginalized the object of their mockery.
Whining about political correctness has been going on for decades, and every time, it's been a defense of shittiness, if not outright bigotry.
If you believe political correctness is "too far", then you should be fine with blackface, Asian and Jewish stereotypes, and the mocking of people with disability.
No? Then you too are being "politically correct", and that's a good thing. You're just stopping where you care, because you can't/won't see the harm going further does.
