I can see Lower Decks maybe taking that award, unfortunately I don’t see SNW winning alone, and I strongly suspect Elizabeth Debicki will take the Best Actress Award.
@samus12345@startrek I didn't see it either until the Memory Alpha entry for the episode listed her as there.
I wonder if it was a case where they didn't have the original actress and/or didn't really have any lines for her. So why put her up front and center to say nothing and then fans complain that everyone else in Nova Squadron was back and talking and she wasn't.
I’m pretty well-versed in Star Trek lore, but it’s always nice to get another perspective. After reading the article I had a brain storm. Lucile Ball was [amazingly enough] a big wheel at Desilu and pushed for the second pilot. She must have liked the first one because it dared to have a smart woman in a position of power. I’m sure many other people have had that notion, and I think it’s funny that it took me so long to see the obvious.
Damn I really do like the lemmy community more. On other social media aggregators, people are flipping the fuck out.
The more reasonable discourse about this article, on Lemmy is just healthier for everyone’s mental state.
That being said, I tend to agree this is a nothing burger and Leer Decks is likely fine for a few more years. It’s a low budget show and the writing is on point making a broad range of fans happy. I’ve heard this show has actually brought in a lot of new Trek fans too.
Having been there, it’s so strange to see her in that space and to recognize it even though it has changed so much. When she says “this must be an early version of the Smithsonian” I almost felt like I was time traveling back there with her.
At least. With the strike(s) going on it could be even longer. Though I presume that the studios will try to pump out new content as quickly as possible once productions are possible again.
