That's sad. While I didn't enjoy every aspect of it, I quite enjoyed it overall. I'm happy to hear season 3 isn't supposed to be the last for SNW though.
Pretty gutted at this news, but as others have pointed out, this move may cement LD as a classic without outstaying their welcome. And hopefully there is a desire for more animated Trek now
Apparently, the numbers on P+ weren't good - the Hagemans themselves have said so.
To be honest, if Paramount slowly decides that they're better off selling their shows to other streamers... I'm not totally against it, depending on how it's done.
“While five seasons of any series these days seems like a miracle, it’s no exaggeration to say that every second we’ve spent making this show has been a dream come true.”
Indeed, if even an animated series is ending after five seasons, I expect this to be a pretty firm maximum moving forward.
“We remain hopeful that even beyond Season 5, Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and the whole Cerritos crew will live on with new adventures,”
Nice, def picking that up. You know what would also be amazing? A series of audio episodes, like BBC style radio comedies. The voice cast is sooo good. I'm just imagining how amazing a collab with John Finnemore would be.
@reddig33@startrek Well we know Tawny Newsome is on the writing staff of the "Starfleet Academy" series, so she's still lurking at least behind the scenes. 🙂
Agreed, even as a huge fan of LD I could personally sense it being more difficult to write more stories for our lowly stalwarts of Starfleet in season 4. Better to be able to end still chanting "Lower Decks! Lower Decks! Lower Decks!"
I enthusiastically disagree. Lower Decks needs to boldly go and jump the shark more than traveling back in time to save a whale or talking to an old microwave that became a god.
