I liked him in Doctor Who! I didn't know who either of them were when I saw their respective episodes, which I think helped. Ed Sheeran's scene was still weird though
I'd be interested in the backgrounds of the people answering this question too. I come from a poor family, and spent the first few years of my working life doing manual labor, and this attitude absolutely baffled me. I have a work from home desk job in tech now, where I routinely have hours of downtime, and I've been loving it. This is the best my mental health has ever been. I'm getting time to read my miles long backlog of books, and develop skills I wouldn't have time for otherwise. I don't reach the end of the day exhausted to the point where all I have to look forward to is sleep, and then doing it all again, like I used to. I have an under-desk treadmill for exercise, and I'm eating healthier and saving money because I'm feet from my own kitchen, and I have the time to cook real meals while at work. I hope to continue increasing my salary, but I think I would be happy doing this same work for a very long time.
Brenda Ray, who has lived in the Fremont area for 40 years, said she noted the change in the city’s population and voted for the ordinance back in 2010. She said she doesn’t “have a problem” with the Central American arrivals “if they are legal and they come in to speak American English.”
She wishes the rule, known as Ordinance 5165, “accomplished more,” but still supports it.
“It’s something that we have in our toolbox,” she said. “If we have a big problem we can fall back on it.”
In short, “I saw a lot of brown people move in, and I didn’t like it. I wish we were able to me more cruel to them, but there’s hope for that in the future.” What an absolute ghoul.
‘…to build that optimistic future that is Roddenberry’s essential vision?’ That is very much going to be at the heart of Starfleet Academy.
I certainly hope so. Star Trek should be optimistic. The Federation is a utopia. We don’t need grungy pessimism. Every other sci-fi is already doing that.
I hope this is his swan song. Patrick Stewart is amazing, and I love Captain Picard, but he’s not Harrison Ford. The franchise will be fine without him. We don’t need to play out Too Short a Season in real life
Even Enterprise was over by the time I was old enough to understand Star Trek, which meant I wasn’t really exposed to any Star Trek games until I was older, but I did play Star Trek Online! So Star Trek Online is my favorite! Lol

Lower Decks addresses it very well in Twovix. The situation is different when you have the whole Federation there to help you out. Voyager was no Equinox.
Ships named after Vulcan cities wouldn’t make much sense, since Vulcan still has their own fleet of starships. I’d be interested to know if other Federation worlds are the same. I bet at least Andoria is, because they wouldn’t have wanted to mothball their fleet while their most contentious neighbors maintain theirs.
One of the concerns also brought up by characters in the past is that joining the federation would lead to them losing their cultural identity. It’s very possible this is part of the problem. Even Captain Vendome, with his entirely Bolian bridge crew, is still captain of a ship named after a city in California.
Hopefully this will be explored as T’Lyn integrates into the Cerritos crew.
It also doesn’t really surprise me. With admirals like Buenamigo naming new ship classes, this is what you get. Star Fleet needs to work on diversity among their flag officers
I found this after reading and responding to this post here about early Trek fans’ prejudicial negative reaction to TNG. One of my responses (see here) was to point out that any fans of the progressiveness of Trek ought to have been mindful of the room for improvement over TOS, with female representation being an obvious...

Uhura and the Kirks reason out that the deuterium in the nebula is part of extra-dimensional beings who’ve integrated themselves into the atomic structure of the gases. I would list all the times a nebula turned out to be alive, but the Lemmy posts do have a character limit.
This was definitely a big “Marty McFly pointing at the TV” moment for my family lol
