We have poverty in today's world only because the rich and powerful want it that way. The need for resource wars and allowing people to go without essentials ended about 35 years ago. The US alone makes enough food to feed the world. Western nations plus China makes enough energy to power the world.

Lol they’ll lose their employees faster than it takes to bake bread if every other business is paying more.

Unions are what HR says it is. They collectively argue on behalf of all employees to protect the employees interests.

Don’t you mean feet out? Preferably, women’s feet. Covered in oil?

One: because fascist would ensure their place at the top of the social/political/financial pyramid.

Two: because the world’s economic system lied to them. Being a morally good, hard working human guaranteed a comfortable life. In fact being morally good and/or hard working may actually be a hindrance to living a comfortable life.

Three: poor education and exploitation. Ever book that is banned or text book that says, “slavery was understandable in fact slavers are benevolent leaders saving the ‘others’ from themselves.” and you know, being used by those that actually hold power. Donald Trump would pretend to be the next Joseph Stalin if it ment he would be protected by those willing to do violence in his name. Just the fact that governments have" heads of state" means those that want to be president, king, prime minister probably should be allowed to be leaders.

Ya but making everyone else’s life more shitty ensures they are still “on top” in their eyes. It’s the same reason most confederate men fought in the civil war even though they didn’t own slaves. Ya their life sucked but at least they weren’t slaves. The moment more human beings get emancipated, be that from slavery, wage slavery, women suffrage, segregation, etc that means they have more competition in the flawed economic, social, and political systems designed around capitalism.

Sad trumpet, as any company that can’t afford to play their works enough to have life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. They don’t deserve to exist

Uhhhh what?! Lol the car manufacturers made $32 billion in profit last year. A record amount. Are you honestly going to say there’s not enough money to pay their works a livable wage? The union isn’t even being out of line for what they are asking for. 400,000 workers even devided across everyone equally (which isn’t what the are asking.) would be $80,000 a year. That’s a life changing amount of money for those workers cbd would do better in their hands, apposed to a few executives and owners. However, that’s not even close to what they are asking for! So you are lying or dumb.

You need a lesson in economics. Is $32 billion better in 100 people’s hands or in the hands of 400,000 peoples hands? The Average UAM makes ~$64k a year, add in where these manufacturing plants are that’s not enough for a single individual to live within driving distance to work. The auto makers could give every unionized work a $40k a year raise and still have $16billion in profits!

Median income isn’t a metric for cost of living. And definitely doesn’t mean the workers who actually made the cars shouldn’t get paid more. $27k a year just means there are hundreds of thousands of workers in Michigan that need to strike as well. (Regardless of they are unionized.) no one is arguing for workers to be paid more than their errands. Or economy is failing because money is pooling in few and few hands. And those few hands are lying about there not being enough to go around or just because someone flipping burgers doesn’t deserve to make enough to feed themselves and their families.

“oh well someone please think of the poor shareholders and executives making millions off other peoples labor!”

The is no trickle down. It’s been 70 years of that crap and it gets more moronic every time. There is no evidence that high executive pay or shareholder payouts benefits the economy. Just out right lies. What the Villiers should do is murder the people hording resources and spend their vacations in Greece and Italy.

The pandemic already killed more Republicans than democrats, so one more big pandemic and Texas and Florida will turn blue

Trump prosecutor Fani Willis faces racist abuse after indicting ex-US president ( www.theguardian.com )

Fani Willis, the Fulton county district attorney in Georgia who is prosecuting Donald Trump and 18 other allies over efforts to overturn the 2020 election, is facing a flurry of racist online abuse after the former president attacked his opponents using the word “riggers”, a thinly veiled play on the N-word....

Oh when I learned she was a black women from Georgia, I knew MAGA would lose their shit. Fani knew this, so that’s why he indictments are the most comprehensive.

They will end up suing blue states for stealing all their health care and education professionals. Before you say that’s far fetched, remember, the republican party is all about blaming others for their failures. They sue California for having too high emissions standards so suing because educated people prefer to live in a better state with better pay is a liberal conspiracy to undermine “freedom.”

NatakuNox ,
@NatakuNox@lemmy.world avatar

Red states almost unanimously have made it illegal for health care workers and education to strike, so I’m sure they’ll announce a state of emergency making it illegal for those workers to leave the state.
