Any you recommend? I tried this during during the first round of YouTube fuckiness on Firefox, and it didn't seem to make a difference.

I'm also probably the least techy person on Lemmy, so chances are high that I fucked something up.

This should be good news. If automation can free us from spending two thirds of our waking life on 'the grind' then fuck yeah! Do it!!

It's time for UBI, free healthcare, and free education, to name just a few.

Social good. If work stopped being such a demand, boredom would start to be an issue, and outside of just leisure entertainment part of the solution would be ushering folks to a field of study that interests them, which would lead to an explosion of research and breakthroughs. That shouldn't come with a barrier to entry: folks who want to spend their time doing that should be enabled no questions asked.

Sounds like the problem there is more with shitty dictatorships. Leave it to a few evil assholes to ruin a good thing. But even in best case scenario of giving everyone the freedom to use the entirety of every day the way they want, it's going to be a very, VERY mixed bag. There will be folks who literally spend the rest of their life watching TV or some other form of idle entertainment, but if that's how they want to spend it, more power to em. I'd guess the majority of folks would engage in some form of arts just to have an outlet for creativity. Relatively few would turn to academics and pursue research for the sole sake of finding answers; but even that relative few would count for something... I think most important would be the kinds of things people study. Today we have a TON of talent wasted on finding clever new ways to blow each other up, or enshittifying the web, or perfecting the psychology of advertisements... if those people were all focused on, say, climate change... then we might not be in the whole planet-on-fire situation we're in now.

Speaking of, we'll probably be extinct before we figure out how to pull our political heads out of our asses anyway. Humanity actually living up to its potential is locked into the "wouldn't it be nice if..." category.

Voting is one of the few things people have the power to actually do to fight this shit. So fucking do it. If you can do more than just vote, then do that too - but vote.

Worse case scenario, it doesn’t matter and you waste some time. Best case scenario, you save your community from the very tangible evil that is on video in this article discussing how they want to fatally punish women for seeking healthcare.

Our system is broken as fuck, but that doesn’t mean we should just bend over and take whatever these chistofascists want to shove up our ass.

If that’s actually your intent, I’d recommend rewording your initial post. Even re-reading it, it stinks of encouraging voter apathy, which (as you seem to already be aware) is self-defeating.

A friend gifted me this game a while ago. Building sims and such have never really been my thing - wasn’t expecting this one to stick.

It is SO fucking fun. This game caught me off guard.

If you’re even a little bit curious about Satisfactory, now’s the time to dive in

That cycle will continue until we’re extinct, because almost without exception, we conflate generations with age ranges… so every generation will think the one behind it is lazy because they judge that next generation when it’s made up of a bunch of kids.

And no shit, kids aren’t great workers :shockedpikachu:

The kids grow up, but the reputation lingers… until the next batch of kids enters the stage, and wouldn’t ya know it, them kids are absolutely shit workers! :shockedpikachu:

Rinse and repeat until the oxygen concentration in our atmosphere is no longer sufficient to support human life… so… couple more decades? /shrug

How will the average lemming, Democrat, Republican, American and non-American react when Biden loses this election?

Every once in a while I read a new poll showing how historically unpopular he is. How do you think people individually and in groups will react to this seemingly inevitable (to me) result? How will society react and, if possible, change?

and only u!

The spelling aid on that one has always rubbed me wrong.

I’m not a fan of Biden, but I’d vote for a bag of his toenail clippings over the traitor Donald Trump.

US politics is always a choice of the lesser evil, and every gripe I have about Biden is petty as fuck in contrast to the damage Trump has already done to our country, let alone the potential to compound it if he’s elected again.

To answer your question, I’ll be disappointed in my fellow voters, but if that many people decide to vote against their own interests, then collectively we’ll get what we deserve.

The full bit is “when you assume, it makes an ass of u and me!”

Teacher dropped that line on my class when I was a little dude, with a comedic pause instead of actually articulating “ass”. We all got a kick out of it, the correct spelling of “assume” was instantly and permanently ingrained in our heads, and I’ve heard it referenced quite a few times since.

But after the initial giggle, there’s the “hey wait a minute, if YOU assume, that only makes an ass of YOU!”

Orcs are generally depicted as being overwhelming in number, but individually kind of worthless. Wave after wave is sent into the meat grinder until the meat grinder breaks.

Kinda perfect for Russia’s approach to invading Ukraine.

Send more meat grinder parts.

The only zerg I’m familiar with are StarCraft’s. Zerglings match what you’re describing, but the zerg as a whole vary a ton.

And zerglings are pretty much the orcs of the StarCraft universe, so kinda interchangeable if we’re comparing to large groups irl idiots like the J6 crowd, or invaders like Putin’s cannon fodder

The Hippocratic oath kinda cracks me up, cuz we break it almost immediately at the start of most procedures by shoving a needle or scalpel into the skin.

I guess “do only necessary harm that will presumably heal in a way that results in a net positive” doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well.

Anyway, we fixed your appendicitis! damns you to a life of poverty with a bill that absolutely destroys your financial health

Look on the bright side - we’ve made a good half-step of progress since then!

Why is the badge watermark on Trump’s so much smaller them everyone else’s? Does it scale with the perp’s hands or something?
